    Quick Snub Question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've got just about 39 dollars burning a hole in my pocket, and I figure I haven't done anything to my car in a couple weeks, so I want a snub. But about a month ago, I installed the black grille on my car, and the bumper removal is something I could live without doing again in the near future (mostly because I dont like messing up my undercarriage on the jack + stands). I searched the forums for most of the day, and read a lot of the snub install threads from Eddie Man and such, and the one question that I'm left with is, can it be done for a B7 without taking off the bumper? I read in more than one instance that people have managed to do it, but they failed to specify if they had a B6 or a B7. So, anyone have a definite yes or no as to ones ability to do this mod on ramps w/o taking off the bumper?

P.S., second quick question: are the fog lights H11 for the Xeon colormatch? And what does it take to swap out bulbs?

    Thanks.

And any members in the central NY area willing to help with the snub install would be appreciated as well.

I'm pretty sure that Eddieman's write up was for his B7 Avant and without bumper removal.

Well I've searched and could only find Eddie Man's install on the 3.0, which is similar, but its with the bumper off. Perhaps Eddie Man can point me in the right direction?

    Re: Quick Snub Question

I installed a snub mount on my B7 S4 about a month ago. At the time I looked around the forums pretty heavily for how-tos, and didn't find any that didn't involve removing the front bumper. That said, the install wasn't too bad - easily doable in an afternoon. As for the H11s, those can be done in about 10-15 min. Just pop off the shroud surrounding the fogs and the rest is self-explanatory. I used the xenonmatch bulbs from http://www.hoen-usa.com and was very happy with the results. Good luck!

Just ordered one myself. Wish I would have seen your offer MOFSTEEL. :-(

For the B6 - I assume same thing that the bumper needs to come off? Let me know if that's off.

Whartung: Looks like faulty memory on my part - this is the thread I was thinking about & Eddie Man clearly has the bumper off: http://forums.audiworld.com/s4b7/msgs/41339.phtml.

Stormin: Thanks - what # is yours?

I have a snub to install, but haven't got around to it yet. I'm going to want to remove the front bumper anyhow to install a K40 (flame suit on).

    hahah

    I like his style.

its a small doughnut shaped piece of polyurethane that you put in a ridiculously small part of your engine bay but its apparently magical and then your car drives better.

You dont have to remove front bumper btw... take out fog light grille, and put it sideways in there.. noone will be able to see it. As for the rear, there is plenty of room in the valence.

    Re: Quick Snub Question

I second that question. For all the work of taking off the front end it better have some noticeable gain in feel of shifting.

    In a nutshell...
Absof'inglutly. Much crisper and quicker shifts in the 4.2 is total bliss. Even better coupled w/a SSK.

To maximize your time efficiency of your B7 bumper pull, schedule a grillage swap, side reflector change and prolly a xenon-fog swap.

For the B6, just bite the bullet, it's well worth it.

OK - who wants to do a SnubSwapG2G???

I just ordered a JHM extra SSK, snub mount, and the apikol rear diff mount yesterday. So I guess my shifts should be looking up soon.

Thanks for the review on the snub mount. I'm looking forward to it now. :-)

Thats probably what i'm going to try to do. The grille has already been swapped, and I have some Hoen H11's on the way, but i was under the impression i could install those without removing the bumper, only the foglight mesh. And in terms of the side reflector change, on a sprint blue should they be body color, smoked or clear? And if they were to be body color, how much does the matched paint generally cost?

    Re: Quick Snub Question

    Sorry for the derailing question:

nimski62 - do you (or anyone else) happen to know if the 25Anniversary/DTM bumper is the same as for K40 install? There are no foglights - do the grill sections pop out anyhow? I know the rear valance is not separable from the rear bumper. Did you mount the remote sensor to the underside of the inner bumper or on to the valance?
