    Re: wheel bearing

Yes, the old bearing will need to be pressed out of the hub and the new one pressed in. Once you get the hub off, you can take it to a auto machine shop or garage and have the press work done. Generally in the $25 range.

    Re: wheel bearing

I just ordered a pair from pureMs @ 58 each. If you do the work yourself its just like manufan mentioned, 25-50 bucks to get them pressed into the hub. Got to take the entire rear upright off.

    Re: wheel bearing

If one failed I suggest doing the other side at the same time. Mine failed within a few months of each other.

    Re: wheel bearing

Oh, one point if you're taking it apart yourself. If the ABS sensor doesn't come right out, don't start twisting and pulling on it or you'l be buying that too. It plugs in under the back seat, you can unplug it and leave it in the housing. Good point from Squarrl, do them both while you're doing the noisy one.

    Re: wheel bearing

I also recommend www.GermanAutoParts.com - I order from them often. They have very quick and very fair shipping. I also ordered a wheel bearing from them, I think they had a price mistake when I ordered it because it was a quality brand for much cheaper than anywhere else. I installed it myself, paid $30 to have it pressed in. Very easy replacement if you like to work with your hands.
