    Plasti-Dip Interior

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Probably a stupid question, but has anyone ever thought of taking off the buttons that are peeling and re-spraying them with plasti-dip?
That's kinda like what's on there already right? Isn't it an extremely thin coating of a rubber like material?

Just curious, I'm obviously bored at work.

Really? A Sharpee? I would think that the wet ink would dry strange and not look good. What about when it's really hot? It doesn't come off onto your hand?

    Re: Plasti-Dip Interior

I have very little peeling in my interior. PO took very good care of her. I was just wondering how it would come out. Does anyone have a link to ehfour's thread?

    Re: Plasti-Dip Interior

my ESP button is starting to peel but no other buttons have peeled. It would be interesting to see how the plastidip worked out, my concern is how would you guys keep the same symbols on your buttons and make sure they still illuminated the proper way to match everything else in your car.

My first guess would be to find some way to cut tiny pieces of tape or something so that they would act as a stencil.

    Re: Plasti-Dip Interior

I tried before but, it was a fail because I tried to sand the console before I sprayed it and the sand paper marks were still showing after the spray. I think that was mostly the grit, but for anyone trying this in the future, just use acetone to take of the old layer of rubber. The plasti-coat was't as thick I as I thought it would be and even in the areas where I didn't sand you could still tell the difference between the plasti-dip layer and old rubber layer. I think I just gonna get a new console myself, but if I do, I just try it again on my old one.

Do search, for Plasti-dip console, the pics should still be good.
