experiment - painted hood grill. Too much silver?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i saw a silver A6 with pinted grills at Waterfest. i had an extra grill so i figured i would give it a try. i painted the grill with the Dupli-color silver and the grill/rings with Plasti-dip. i finished them with Dupli-color Auto clear coat.

    i'm undecided on them...thoughts?

Its different. I think it looks cool but prefer the black myself. I had always wondered what it would look like.

It's cool... but too much silver. I tried it myself before and it didn't last 10 seconds

When I did that in like late 2004, 99% of the people around on AZ then thought it was sinful. Looking back on it now, I think it was sinful, too. Seemed like a good idea at the time. But with your front lower, it works. I like it.

The only part that I think looks out of place is the thick silver part behind the rings. Thats the only overpowering silver part IMO. Other than that its different and looks pretty good on your car

I like it, I think it looks agressive, but i think you should paint the outer black edge as well for your top and bottom grilles. THAT would look good.

IMO any amount of silver is too much. Silver paint jobs are so 80's and 90's. It's just so plain looking and doesn't project that same deep and beautiful shine look that you get with colors like black, or red, or blue, or white. And white is just classy and sick.

Nice actually. I'm with the others though. Paint the rest of the grill trims and the entire rings. That's pretty nice though man.

i was thinking the same thing. i might try some repainting. i was also thinking the black might look better if it matched the gray in the headlights.

my lower grills are just mesh screwed in from the back of the Abt bumper. do you think i should paint the area's around the mesh? like the inlets?

i think if you paint the vertical bars in the grill black it won't be as over powerful. Right now IMO its a little too much silver but still pretty good looking.
