Anyone have Unitronic stg2, opinions on REVO...

I have posted about my issue quite a bit in the past few monthes... I have a 01 with REVO, GHL Turboback, Forge 007. I had a 98 with APR and forge 007 that im my opinion felt a lot better. After checking boost leaks, sensors, n75 valve, the turbo, it seems to have no issues i think the REVO is not up to par. Noticed there is a Unitronic stage 2 available for 93 and upgraded exhaust that is good for around 20 more hp and 30 more tq. Anyone have this program? Anyone have opinions on the REVO file?
    Thanks

Re: Anyone have Unitronic stg2, opinions on REVO...

I have the Unitronic Stg1+, I haven't upgraded to the stage 2 yet, but I plan on it at some point. At this point I want to just try it b/c it's only like $50 to upgrade to the Stg2 from the 1+.

IIRC the Stg2 is tuned for 20+psi whereas the 1+ is tuned for 18psi.

At this point I'm using the N75 + a MBC to keep it at 17-18psi. It heat soaks so quickly that to me, it's pointless to run more boost w/o a FMIC to shed some more heat.

    Uni Stg1 - 91oct
Uni Stg 1+ - 93 oct (and designed to be used on cars with modded exhaust and intakes)
uni Stg 2 - 93 oct (same as above and is more aggressive)

I'm surprised that you thought the APR software felt better than the REVO, considering both aren't very aggressive tunes.

I love my unitronic flash. Great thing about it to, if/when I upgrade to a BT/BAT setup I get 80% of my Stg1+ price pro-rated towards any other tune.
APR and REVO don't do that.

EDIT: your '98 wasn't DBW either, it should've been more responsive than your '01

Re: Anyone have Unitronic stg2, opinions on REVO...

I read many reviews of people claiming that the Revo software for the stock turbo sucks. But there are a few whom would disagree with that statement. When I first started to learn about my vehicle, I learned the rule of thumb for the B5 A4 is to go either APR or GIAC (more favored). And if you have an 01, go with Dahlback. I myself went with CTapp because I want to upgrade with them in the future as I want to go BAT. If I did not go with them, I would have gone the Unitronic route as djwimbo did (for the same reason).

From what I have come to know, Unitronic is one of the better (or best) tuning programs for our vehicles. So to answer your question, according to many opinionated threads, the Revo software is not up to par with other competetors. My old mechanic told me that the Revo software was tuned more in consideration of not blowing your turbo, hence the reason of the mildness.

you dont need exhaust/intake on 1+.. uni only requires that for stg 2

I should correct myself, it's not designed for use with other mods, they just help grab onto the gain of the 1+

The MBC helps, but makes boost come on a lot more touchy.

IMHO the only thing worse than REVO is Neuspeed. I don't want to get into why they suck for tuning, but they do [/story]

Yeah im really not a fan of the REVO, im going to try the mbc and see what happens... car hits boost randomly ... for instance 2nd gear sometimes spikes 18 sometimes wont spike higher than 15, its wierd and annoying and i havent been able to figure it out
