Whats the first performance mod you'd put on your new a4/b5

so i;ve had my audi a4 for a little over a year now and im starting to consider dumping some money into it to give it some balls, haha. but the thing i was curious about is where people like to start modding these cars with performance parts. so everyone post their idea of best performance mod to go with out of the gate, and also throw out how much you spent and whether it was worth the cash.

First off I went with an exhaust, 2.5" catback with a magnaflow 14816 muffler. I spent $275, and it is definitely worth that and more.

forge DV and new wheels. then came koni coils. i havent done anything to the engine as far as performance goes. i got my timing belt replaced! :)

It seemed to gain a tad more hp and tq, but one big difference was boost started about 600 RPMs earlier, and held 1k RPMs longer. More power is obviously there through boost now.

First is a chip to raise the boost level and an upgraded DV to hold the boost.

And if you care at all how the car handles. Upgraded metal rear sway bar links and a big fat rear sway bar.

Those two things will transform your car.

No real point in getting an intake. The stock one does its job just fine. Just get a chip to open up the full potential of the stock turbo.

i'd get exhaust, do the air box mod and then get a stg2 uni file.. no need in getting a stg1+ then having to upgrade, just get it one time.

I think I went, intake, Dv, wheels,chip, coils, ported o2, testpipe, exhuast, gauges, idk too much stuff. Just chip it, you will love life.

i built myself an intake using spectre performance filters and shit and i saw a nice increase in power and fuel economy the sweet thing is that i got all the parts at autozone for under 100 bucks

First mod, chip it. Then comes all the other things that add up to a load of money spent that you could've saved towards a BT setup.
Testpipe & downpipe are great additions to the upped boost level of the chip.

my first mod was the day i bought the car was a turbosmart dv, then a week later i did a FMIC and chip, then boost gauge,HID conversion kit, APR exhaust, hawk hps front pads and rotors, neuspeed shortshift, and my latest was southbend stage 4 clutch... and will be installing my gt2871r over the winter.....and then some coilovers in the summer time

If I were to do it all over again.. I would do everything in this order.

First make sure it's running 100%
Boost gauge
Replace all mounts (diff, motor/snub, tranny).
Swaybars
Exhaust
Coilovers
Brakes
Clutch
Diverter Valve
FMIC
Bigger turbo/tune.

If you aren't looking to make serious power, I'd just get chip first, boost gauge, mounts, sways then exhaust/tp and maybe suspension.

The best way to mod is to first pick out what you want the end goal for your car to be-- then mod towards that. I always told myself to do suspension before speed, because speed is no good if you can't handle it. In the process of researching and buying my suspension my power goals went through everything from just a chip/DV to k04 pc16 to gtrs to gt3071 to a built 2L with a hybrid turbo a custom tune.... I've realized (through other's experience) that I ultimately wont be happy until my car is in the 11's. Realizing this means I have to live with my 150bhp of fury for a little longer, but it has saved me the money and trouble of going through the chip/k04/bt costs and having to re-do everything.

boost gauge, helps give you an idea of what all the mods from that point on are doing for you, and you can keep quick tabs on your boost to make sure everything is working as it should.

I got my A4 and 1 month later ripped out the motor and rebuilt the block with scat rods weisco pistons and bought a gt3071r. about 1 month into the build hope to have it finished in acouple weeks. but I dont think most people are as quick as i was to just go to a big turbo

my first mod was boost gauge. the biggest change ive seen from one of my mods is the test pipe (homegrown hfc). turbo spools so much faster. however i dont have a chip yet so im sure that will make more of a difference.

first mod should be suspension/brakes. Gotta build the car from the ground up.

Boost gauge took me 3 months to install. The most procrastonate thing I've ever done.

Does anyone know which vacuum lines to switch that will get you more boost safely?
I've heard that its the lines to wastegate and to TIP I'm not too sure on this does anyone have pics or know why it does this and I'd like to know if I'm taking a chance by doing this? Thank you.

Software is what allows you to make more boost. Go buy a chip. Speedtuning, APR, GIAC, just to name a few...

Go get a chip and upgraded diverter valve.
