The gap on those plugs is 0.024" out of the box. I'd imagine that you could change the gap if you wanted to but, it won't be as simple as a conventional copper plug that has the ground electrode hanging under the center electrode.
On the APB motor in the S4, the coil packs are not as powerful and the ones used on the A6 and the allroad. This means that using a larger gap while using the Beru coils in the S4 will be more prone to misifres as Stage 3 boost levels become very turbulent in the combustion chamber. Most spark plug manufacturers recommend to close the plug gap by 0.004" for every 50HP you add via forced induction changes. The stock gap is 0.032".
The 0.024" gap on the Bosch F5DP0R is then reduced 0.008" from the stock 0.032" gap. This should be fine for all around use and not be too small. The only other option you could go with is a nology or crane spark amplifier to raise the spark levels and then keep a larger gap.
The largest change I've ever noticed from smaller gap is a slight reduction in low rpm throttle response. Larger gaps tend to result in snappier throttle response at lower rpms.
The tradeoff in using a smaller gap is the avoidance of misfires during WOT applications up near redline. Obviously, you don't want misfires up there so the tradeoff in throttle response in those lower rpm areas is worth it.
