well the day has arrived. my baby is getting a pair of new lungs. the old ones were holding up well and worked fine before she went under. 200,000kms and no obvious signs of failure (dentist drill/sirens)

i dropped my car off at my buddies today to get my stage 3 finally installed. should be done for me by the time i get back in town from work next week. so excited

just a regular k04 build, nothing crazy. ill see if my buddy will snap some progress pics for me as i wont be able to take them myself. ill also have to make a video, as im curious how the exhaust will sound with no res or x-pipes.

    hope the operation goes well

should be about 8k (cnd) for turbos, fueling, software, supporting mods(apr bi-pipe,inlets,intercoolers,k04 hardware kit etc etc,) asp stage4 clutch, asp 3" downpipes, custom catback, vibrant performance mufflers. that includes labour too.

i just got to figure out where i want to put my boost and A/F gauges

Re: car is having an operation

    Sounds like a nice setup.

Just remind him to pull all the red/yellow sealing caps off the oil/coolant connections of the new K04s and make sure that he primes the oil really good before starting the car.

One way to prime the turbos is to just pull the fuel pump fuse and crank the car over 5 seconds and stop. Repeat at least 10 times. This should force enough oil into the CHRAs and rotate the thrust shafts enough to get a decent covering of oil.

Also I cannot stress enough how important it is to inspect all the inlets and plumbing for debris before assembling. All it takes is ONE ziptie piece and you can kiss a compressor wheel goodbye.

    So for review:

    1. Remove all oil/coolant caps! (Every port has one, use a pick tool, yes people forget to remove them...)
    2. Prime the turbos with oil! (better to waste time cranking the car now that, pulling the motor again for a dead turbo)
    3. Clear all inets and IC paths for debris! (Use a shop vac if you wish.)

Re: car is having an operation

well thought id bump my old thread since i got some pics of the install. we all love pics so here they are. sorry they arent the best, my buddy was using his iPhone while doing the install, so some came out blurry.

here is some pics of the exhaust installed. i havent had a chance to snap some under car pics, but i was told it was extremely cramped fitting two 3" pipes down there. i am also going to get the mufflers raised alot higher, the shop i took it to, wouldnt cut the bumper any more then they did. once i get that adjusted i will snap some under car pics

Sounds cool, but I personally would not spend 8k, I would put that money towards a new car.

FYI this is what I have in my 2003 allroad

    http://www.impconcepts.com/audis4boostgaugeforsale.htm

much better and more integrated than any external gauge if you ask me. Its there when I want to see it but really does not intrude if Im not paying attention.

meh, i know i wont be getting rid of this car at all, thats why i have put so much money into mods. i will be getting a new car within a few years (im 24 right now) and will be a 2 door. the 6 will always stay with me until it can no longer drive.

that gauge is awesome. i was looking into that but wasnt sure if you can get an A/F gauge aswell. after looking at the video, it looks like that dude has an A/F gauge too. any info on the other gauge? i may look into this
