car wont lock or unlock with remote

aftering installing my turbo timer my key remote doesn't work anymore. I change d the battery and reset the remote but it still doesn't work. anyone know why?? also when the car is running and i manual lock the door with the key while the car is still running...and after the car turns off the alarm doesn't activate is that normal?

What method did you use to reset the remote? Did you stick the key in the door lock, turn it to lock or unlock and then within a minute, press either the lock or unlock button on the remote?

isn't it the other way around?? press the button and then lock with key? i thought that's what the manual said to do

Could be, I don't do it very often, but whatever is in the manual is what should work. Is that what you did?

i don't know i had a buddy of mines install it. i mean like it worked for a day and then just stopped working

When I installed my turbo timer I had to rewire the central locking system and splice into one of the wires that goes to the computer diag plug. Mine has been working fine ever since I installed it.

To reprogram your remote you have to have the key in the ignition and in the acc position. Then lock the car using the drivers door, hit your unlock button on your remote and the cars parking lights will flash once (if you are programming a second remote hit it twice to program a second key up to 4, I think, and the lights will flash 2-4 times depending on how many times you press the unlock button on the remote) then unlock and lock the car using the drivers door again. After that remove the key from the ignition and your remote should work. If you don't have 2 keys you can remove the drivers inner panel and manually lock or unlock the car by sticking your hand in the door and manually manipulating the locking mechanism. The drivers door does NOT have to be closed when you are programing a new key.

if that doesnt work try reprogramming the keys through vag com. that should def work!!

Do you know where I can find more details about the re wiring. I purchased vehicle with timer already installed. Since I've owned I am unable to lock doors with remote when walking away with engine still running.... Defeating the purpose of timer. Not sure if this can even be changed, thanks for any shared info

Depends on the manufacturer of the turbo timer, although it should be mostly the same for all installs.
