One more part from waterfest on the car (pics)

I bought an s4/abt replica spoiler from a vendor at waterfest cheap as hell. I finally got around to prepping and painting it after a mishap the first time I tried to get it. Spoiler fell and put some nicks in the paint. So second time around, it's on the car now.

That turned out really good...did you paint it yourself? If so, nice work matching the color.

Re: One more part from waterfest on the car (pics)

Thanks guys. Yeah I painted it myself. I just used duplicolor radiant silver metallic that I found in some of the diy painted lowers threads. You can sometimes find this spoiler on ebay i believe already painted. I could be wrong though. It's been a while since I've seen it on ebay. I just vag.com'd my fogs now so I can run fogs and parking lights only. No more headlights with fogs if I don't want them on. Thanks Brett for talking me through that.

I will need to get w/ you on the vagcom foglight mod at the next meet (if you don't mind, of course).

Now that you have mastered the art of painting, are you going to paint your front spoiler?

im still in search of an s4 lower grille. i will hopefully acquire an usp lower grille i the near future to put the two together. the fog mod was fairly easy and takes about five minutes as long as you have vagcom. the paint for my front lower should b here sometime this coming week.

Re: One more part from waterfest on the car (pics)

heateris, i did a thread w pics on the taillights last week. i basically used dishsoap and water to clean the lights, masked the red so only the clear was visible and sprayed 3 coats of model/rc car tint spray. think the brand was tamiya. gotta check when i get home from work. or if you look for my thread "gone n dun did it." i then took the masking off the red and sprayed 3coats on the whole lense. i originally clearcoated with model clearcoat and it sucked. used duplicolor automotive clear the second time around after wetsanding all the model clear off. let the clear dry and i still have to wetsand and polish the finish. the duplicolor is much harder and glassier clear than the model clear.

Thomas, if you haven't already vag'd the car before the next time I see you, I will be sure to have my laptop and some connectors to do the fogs for you. And Kirk that s4 grille is going nowhere. lol. It's all part of the grand scheme of things.

How much was the spoiler? I am starting to dislike my M3-style spoiler....its too small

Also, what foglight kit is that, looks good

Re: One more part from waterfest on the car (pics)

thanks everyone. as far as vag.com, as far as vaging anyones cars, i feel comfortable doing the fog mod but im such a newb i really need to research it more before i touch anyones car to diagnose something. you can seriously f' it up if you do something wrong. to answer the newb question, in order to use you fogs now you hve to have your headlights on now. if you would like the use of the fogs with just your parking lights also you have to do one of two things depending on your model year. supposedly 02 and earlier years just need a simple rewire of the headlight switch that takes 5min tops. 03 and newer models need this rewire but you must also recode your ecu with vag.com to run rest of world. there are a couple writeups i found on this by searching "vag rewire foglight" in the b6 forums. there are more results to talk you thru the procedure im sure but thats where i started and then resorted to phoning a friend to talk me through the recode which was simple. i just didnt want to take any chances. the fogs are 6000k vvme i ordered off of ebay for 63 bux shipped (whole kit). the spoiler was from a vendor at waterfest. dont remember the name but i talked them down to 80 for it. i just had to prep and paint it.

Thanks Kirk, thanks Gmen. Its a slow process but i'm getting there. i think next is doorblades then rims or spacers and coilovers. dont know how much longer i wanna roll on these stock 17s. I think dumped on coils w some spacers may look good but 19s are so tempting.
