fuel tank recall for 4.2??

I found the posts on the recall of the A6 fuel tanks, but it excluded the 4.2 engine. It would appear my car is suffering from this leak, as I have a huge puddle and the fuel is just running down the front of the tank. Anyone know if Audi is honoring the warranty on the 4.2's? Its a 10/03 build date. I can't imagine that the fuel tank is different on the 4.2, esp since the recall covered the other quattro models.
Since I've had this less than a week, it would really suck to be stuck with an outrageous bill for something like this. the dealer is saying to bring it in on monday and they will see what they can do. Just hoping some here has some good news for me, esp since I totalled my truck yesterday. Knew I should have gone back to bed yesterday morning!!!

dude you just bought the car and there's a fuel leak? Take it back and tell him you don't want the car, I wouldn't trust this car if I were you. Just my .02

4.2 has a different tank. 22 gallon is what the 4.2, S6, and RS6 have. That's why it wasn't covered in the recall.

ZOMBIE BUMP. Anyways, I didn't want to start a new thread but I learned that my 2002 A6 didn't go in for the recall yet so I will be bringing it in soon.

Yeah usually you can just go to the dealer and give one of the service guys you're VIN. They can tell you if you are due for any recalls.

Audi just sent out that letter that told me that I didn't have it done yet. How long do these repairs usually take (I'll forget to call them tomorrow so I'm just asking now.. lol)
