Tire size for 4.2 with 19's....

    I picked up a set of BBS CH's 19 x 8.5, and H&R springs/ Bilsteins for my 03 A6 4.2.

But I dont know what tire size to get.I saw that one website lists 255/35 and the other is 255/ 30,and I saw a guy running 265/30's. I would rather have the 35 series just to have a little more sidewall, but I dont think I can return the tires once I mount them.

Any help much appreciated, and when its all done I will post some before and after pics.

it depends on the offset. i run 275/30/19 and no problems. for daily driving i would go with 265/35/19.

Maybe some more people have more info.

Okay, thanks. I would be using the car for daily driving. The CH's are 19x 8.5 with a 35 offset, same as stock, if that helps

If you want to keep the stock size, just enter the old size and the new size into this:

Will also tell you how fast/slow any new setup will make your speedo.

i've got 265/30 on the back of mine, but the rim is 9.5 wide... i wanna get something wider tho... i only have 235 on the front, but i think the widest for 8.5 rim is 255

255/30/19 is the recommended tire size if your stock wheel is 255/40/17.

This is to keep the same rolling diameter as the stock setup.

+/- 3% variation is the max suggested, but seeing as how these other guys are able to run hugely wide tires without issue, guess it's only a guideline.
