Decided on a B6 and have a few questions..

Hey guys.. After having owned a couple sports cars in a row, my current family ride (TL A-spec) isn't cutting it. That being said i decided on a B6 S4 because of the fact that it is available in an paddle shift auto (traffic in Atlana blows), makes decent power, and i can get out of my TL and into an S4 for the same money for the most part.

I searched and found some info but i figured i would post all of my questions in one thread in the hopes of getting some additional input rather bumping a bunch of old threads. That being said i have a few questions that i am hoping you guys can help me out with.

-What are the differences between 04's and 05's?
-I read a thread about window trim. Which S4's come w/ the black trim or was it an option? The reason why i ask is because i have yet to see one.
-What are the options or options packages that were available for these cars, and what did they include?
-It seems like power mods are kind of pointless for the most part based on what i have read (minimal gains). I am of the opinion that it doesn't make sense to spend $1500 or so on an exhaust that may net me 10hp if i'm lucky. That being said is it common practice to swap out the rear mufflers for a more aggressive sounding one, or deleting resonators on these cars? What have you guys done?
-Bluetooth.. Was it an option in 04/05?
-When a car is certified by Audi, what do they do to it as part of that certifaction process?
-What have you guys paid to extend your warranties for those of you that have?

Thats it for now, i am sure other questions will follow as my search intensifies. Thank you.

-What are the differences between 04's and 05's?

-Couple of things: Single Xenons were replaced with Bi-xenons. However a lot of people have issues with the Bi-xenons fogging up. Rear antenna was changed.

-I read a thread about window trim. Which S4's come w/ the black trim or was it an option? The reason why i ask is because i have yet to see one.

    - I do not believe black windowtrim was an option on the B6.

Depends on your taste. Many people put on cat-backs. There are a wide variety of optons you can persue. Try searching to see which you find the best. I personally have a Non-resonated Labree.

-Bluetooth.. Was it an option in 04/05?

Not an option, but you can install it with the Symphony II- All you need is the module, harness, antenna, and microphone.

-When a car is certified by Audi, what do they do to it as part of that certifaction process?

-Rigid inspection of the whole car. I forgot how many point process is it. I would look for a CPO. Some issues that arise from the S4 can become expensive in labor alone.

-What have you guys paid to extend your warranties for those of you that have?

Look to spend anywhere from 2k-3500 depending on the warranty.

Hopefully i covered a bit. If i missed something or got something wrong by all means someone correct me.

Yes Audi will cover the lights under warranty.

Symphony II is the stock radio/HU in the car.

Warranty: Its either or, whichever comes first.

    Tell me about it.

I used to have a lightly modded C5 Z06 up until about a year ago when i sold it because i wasn't driving it anymore (had a kid). I've only had my TL for 10 months and its a great car,but it has to go. I need to get back into something that puts a smile on my face.

    Lets clarify this.

Are you saying that if i buy a CPO car today from a dealer with 30k on it that it will be warrantied for 6 years from today and to 130k (whichever comes first) or for 6 years from today and up until the odometer hits 100k?

If you buy a car that has a 100k 6year warranty the warranty exists until you hit 100k miles in the car, or the 6 years from the CPO expires, whichever comes first.

It is six years from the original in-service date or 100k total miles.

CPO is only worth it IMO on cars with higher mileage. For a car that is four years old with lower mileage an aftermarket warranty would be my choice.

I've never looked into an aftermarket warranty..Any idea on what i can expect to pay for one on an S4?

Re: Decided on a B6 and have a few questions..

I just bought my 05 S4 Cab CPO... was explained to me like this:

Factory warranty last 4 years or 50k miles, whichever comes first.
The CPO, (300 pt inspection - you can print off the items covered from the Audi website), will kick in after the factory warranty expires.

The CPO covers an additional 2 years or until the car reaches 100k, whichever comes first. Most dealers charge between $1600-$1900 for CPO. If you want a clean car and a different warranty, I would definitely look at a CPO car (has gone through inspection and whatever needed replacing was replaced), then have the dealer take it off. You still get the benefit of the 300 pt inspection, but you can save the $1800 or so and buy whatever warranty you want.

The CPO does charge a $50 deductible. Good luck on your search!

most warranties (including CPO) start from original service date, not the date of warranty purchase.
