Headlights out AGAIN...

3 weeks ago my headlights went out on my 98.5. It was the typical symptoms of a headlight stalk/switch. I replaced it and everything has been working fine since then.

Today again.. on my way home from work the headlights went out. The parking lights work, blinkers work, tails work, every light except HIGHS/LOWS/FOGS.

Again these are they symptoms of a faulty switch. But come on.. this switch is new. There's something electrical going on..

Any suggestions/leads?!?!?!!

Check the fuses? Are they stock lights, or something else? Never really heard of this being a common thing. Might want to search it up over on AW.

mine would go out......i took the stalk apart to clean it only to go and pull the bulb out and see that the harness was melted and eroded. Was a much simpler fix than i thought. you might want to check that out.

I'm running silver stars in the low and fog light portion.

The harnesses look perfect, the light plugs are not melted and the bulbs themselves don't have any unusual burns on the contacts. I'll swap back to stock bulbs once I get this figured out.

The problem is: the fuses are not blown.. which leads me to think that it's not the outside portion of the harness. It has to be something past the fuses on the dash/column harness.

Is it wrong to assume that? ^^

bump.. still out.. the stalk is getting power to it.. nothing comes from it in the "on" position.

don't know if this is the same or not, but I have silverstars in my fogs and I replace them 2-3 times a year. These things should be lasting for a few years. I don't know if it's a silverstar light problem or if it's too much overload from our system, but it doesn't happen with the headlights....only where I have silverstars.....

I'm starting to think that the silverstars (although the bulbs still work), are the problem. The bulbs have a white power build up inside the balast. I'll be swapping these out for oem-type bulbs as soon as the other stalk unit arrives.

i was having problems with my headlights randomly (and i mean few times and far inbetween) going out on me... so i just did the independant fog light mod.. now if the headlights go out, i can still see!

hope you get the problem fixed.
