i wish i could help you but i have a similar problem that is driving me crazy. anytime i park with my windows or sunroof open even just a little bit, the alarm goes off every 10 minutes roughly. and this is with the car locked or unlocked. it's lame.

your problem is different. that's normal for every audi i've ever driven. you know there's a button on the b pillar to deactivate the motion sensor right????

my problem is with windows up and sunroof closed. makes no sense to me.

i know about the button..... but it shouldn't be going off when the car isn't even locked.

I had this recently, it was because of the hood sensor. Mine was rusting out and not working properly, not an expensive part and not too difficult to replace.

You can test it, when you lock your car the horn should beep. Check all doors, opening one at a time, then the hood. I had to pop/shut the hood a few times before it worked again until I could change the part out. By doing this you can narrow down which sensor is giving you problems.

Re: WHAT is an ATW sensor and why is it making my alarm go off?

Hi am having the same dam problem every night my alarm goes off just so it can wake up my neighbors. I when to the dealer and the guy told me it might be the hood pin sensor a common problem in the alarm system and there is no way to turn off the factory alarm. The sensor chip for the hood cost $38.00 I haven’t change mine as yet because I am not sure what the problem is.

i still think there's a code for that and vag com would tell me if the hood was setting mine off. your dealer should've been able to tell you exactly what set yours off.

anyone know where the rear left antitheft sensor is?

The dealer told me they had to check for the problem and it would take one to fours to find out the problem at dealer rates do the math’s a good $300 and change sorry I will pass. I am going to an alarm shop to see if they can disconnect the alarm siren so it won't wake up my neighbors at night, I have a second alarm on the car so I am still some what protected from thief.

i still think they're ripping you off. my $60 vag-com will tell you exactly why the alarm goes off if it does. it will always have a reason....some sensor...unless its somehow completely fried. i have a feeling the dealerships pricy equipment could tell them the same thing my $60 unit can

actually your car automatically sets the alarm after 2-3 mins of sensing no movement within. if i unlock my car and dont open my door, after a few minutes, it auto relocks.

thus making your alarm go off cause your windows are cracked and sunroof is cracked.

you can click your sunroof once click back from being closed and leave it and it wont set your alarm off, unless its super windy out.
