    Best Insurance Company?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Have any of you guys shopped around rates recently?

I know New Jersey rates apparently are higher than other places. Being 22 years old, I had a feeling rates could be a bit high. However, I shopped around a little bit and found that Selective Insurance had a pretty good rate for me. I'm paying $144 bucks a month for 10 months with a $338 deposit for full comprehensive...although my deductables are 1,000 dollars... I'm pretty sure its 50,000/100,000/50,000 for the limits...

I was with progressive right before I bought the '04 S4..and they priced me out at $290.00 a month! and that was the best they could come down..

So, how about you guys? anything exciting out there? lol

Unfortunately you have several things working against you. 1) The state you live in 2) Your age and 3) The V-8 you drive ! That's before you take into account any moving violations you may have I would have to say your rates arent terrible except that $1000 deductible your carryin'.

USAA also is usually the top 3 (usually the #1 spot) for good customer service.

State Farm ~$90/month full coverage with $500 deductible. I'm 32.
I said this in another thread recently, they've told me that they are basically looking at you and your driving record to see the risk. Obviously that vehicle plays a role in this too but not as much. That probably varies from agent to agent.

NJ Manufacture's Insurance but you can only get in in if you or your family member works for a company that is represented by them. I'm 26 live in NJ w/RS4, $500 deductibles(req by finance company), Full Comp and liability pay approximately $1,900/yr. The best is the $200 dividend check at the end of the year that gets paid back to you if there's extra money after all claims are paid out. They also do homeowners/renters insurance.

Call AIS insurance. They do the shopping for you by comparing rates of different companies and their one time broker fee is reasonable. I tried to do the shopping myself, but after talking with friends who had AIS, I got the best deal through them with Mercury. Good luck, you age combined with the car is gonna make it difficult to find reasonable rates.

    Re: Best Insurance Company?

Too many factors to say one is better than another, your best shot is to locate a broker, NOT AIS, unless you like paying brokers fees? Let them shop your policy amongst a couple carriers. Some have better rates in different states, so someone in your situation in CA, will have a totally different rate in NJ, with similar records and surroundings. All Insurance is governed by the state, so they are required to file their rates to make sure they are collecting enough premium to cover their losses.

USAA paid $1,000,000 in personal medical bills in my car accident last year. No problems at all. I'm almost friends with the adjuster now.

My rate ($2000/year) could be lower but that really doesn't matter to me. There is no comparison.

Not to mention that premiums are locked and do not go up due to accidents or moving violations.

Well they are locked for the policy term, at renewal the policy can change rate do to driving record. All companies are like this, but typically auto policies are in 6 month terms.

On the flip side, carriers are continually filing for rate decreases with the slowing economy to stay competative and retain business. So if you purchase a policy with a rate locked in for the year, if any rate decreases come across you'll have to wait until next year to get any relief.

    Re: Best Insurance Company?

I just switched to State Farm. I'm going to be paying $143 a month with limited tort and 100/300k liabilities, 100 dedcut. for my 04 S4, 01 A4, and my 71 pontiac. That's with a home policy discount but I think without that, it was around $160. I was 25 when I signed up for this so that helped a little.

If you have more than one car, list your S4 as a "Pleasure Vehicle." It runs me less than $50 a month that way.
