Anyone Runnin the Ebay Vag Com on 64bit vista?

So i managed to get it runnin on my gf's laptop and my moms which are both runnin 32bit vista. I just got my laptop back from being repaired and i cant seem to get it running. Im doing everything the same but no matter what it keeps giving me Vag Com has stopped working.

Ive gon into the advanced settings tryed to run it in xp mode, as admin...nothing works...

are you saying the vag application wont launch or that you cant get the usb to hook up?

have you already tried to run it in compatibility mode? If you right click you should be able to run the "compatibility" and select another operating system to emulate.

I can't get the program to launch on 32 bit or 64 bit. It just says "program has stopped working" when you click the icon.

we got our OBDII plug in from hong kong.. installed vag com onto the computer.. hooked it up to the car.. ran some sort of "OBDII" test, came back compatible.. came into the house and tried to get the serial number off of vag com.. and it said it had an error and the program closed.. what in the blistering hell is wrong lol..

we're using a lap top with windows vista on it if that makes any kind of difference.. we also read that there is a "704 version" available that works with vista.. but would that work with the car? (99' Volkswagon Passat B5 1.8T)

we kinda wanna get this free version of vag com working with the car before we go and blow 99 dollars on a damn lisence, only to find out the shit doesnt work.

Nope - but, I'm successfully running the Ross-Tech VAG-COM USB cable with VCDS 8.05 on Vista64 - yes, I really *do* need more than 3GB of user addressable RAM, my current laptop has 8GB, so I must use a 64-bit O/S.

While I hate Winblows, I haven't yet modified the FOSS VAG-COM replacement(s) to work under 64 bit Linux (Ubuntu - I haven't had the time yet), so until I make those mods, I'm kind of stuck...

FWIW, I find that the 64-bit version of Vista is much more stable than the 32-bit version, so if you've got the architecture to make use of the 64-bit version, you may be surprised, (or not).

fyi - i had vag working on my mac using fusion but with the new fusion 3 it stopped working
