Since it has no mass air flow meter it must be stand alone, you can see this by seeing there is nothing between the turbo and the air filter...

    Thats what he means..

wonder what kind of power that set up makes, those kinds of superchargers can make ooodles of power, just not a good curve. watch, the guy that put this together comes on and tells us it makes like 400hp and starts the 12V revolution.

Re: Anybody have more info on THIS BLOWN 12V?

Well, I would estimate about 400hp if it was properly setup....

It also looks like its SPB which in SCCA Autox classes is Street Prepaired B(class of car). Generally street prepaired cars are pretty damn quick.

What throws me is the size of the pulley on the supercharger. It looks really big. On a supercharger the smaller the pulley the more boost it runs. If I had to guess its running 7lbs of boost, which would probably be near a 100 hp increase on a 200hp engine.. But I could easily be wrong on that, im not a supercharger guy.

Re: Anybody have more info on THIS BLOWN 12V?

how do you guys figure 400hp? The 12v has like 170hp stock and you think its going to over double the hp?

Superchargers usually put out ~50% over the amount of stock power... which would be ~250

I guess the standalone helps but 400? doubt it

Re: Anybody have more info on THIS BLOWN 12V?

Ya 170 in stock form, but you have to figure that there will be added benefit from going with a better exhaust, a better intake, and probably some good tuning and maybe proper cams.

Thats why I figure about 400hp.

Why else would he be running a FMIC that big?

Re: Anybody have more info on THIS BLOWN 12V?

now that i study the pic a little closer, i do see the big intercooler. i know that inline 4's with those types of superchargers can make 250whp-270whp without much trouble. its been done on celica's alot. if this thing is built, with an intercooler like that. i could only imagine the HP it makes...of course i could be totally wrong and the thing could suck ass.

that is usually what is said in the description when you go to buy a supercharger, but that is usually when running the pulley given to you at time of purchase.

its a centrifugal supercharger, not really sure which one. it looks like a Paxton Novi style. It does have a huge supercharger pulley, but you can use bigger lower pulleys to up the boost as well. his class might restrict his upper pulley size but not his lower.

smaller upper and bigger lower pullies increase boost.

centrifugal blowers are a better mid/upper RPM setup, it seems roots style blowers die fast.

without the blower the cobra's wouldnt put down much more then probably 220-230, they are a low compression motor out of the box, made to see high boost (forged pistons, rods and crank from the factory, where as the lightning are cast pistons, rods and crank). With the eaton running 10psi, the old one a business partner and i had 4-5 years ago, put just under 380 down, with a 2.93 upper and 4# lower pulley on stock blower, it put a hair under 480 down. so 10 more psi over stock, upped it another 100 rwhp.

i could see it putting 300-350 down, 400 might be a stretch unless its running a massive lower pulley.

very rough rule is you double you horsepower every 15 psi. like everyone said, you cant judge boost just by that pulley size.
