I have done several sets. It is very easy to do, you can even powdercoat them yourself too with a yard sale oven

Greg, how difficult is it to sand and patch some gashes in the lip?

Are you painting the lip? If you are no problem at all, you can use plastic body filler (Bondo).

If you are polishing it, there are two choices, you can sand the whole lip to make it uniform (from the material you will have to remover) or you can weld up the areas that are gashed and then file and sand them down.

It is easiest to do if you can spin the lips on a lathe.

I'm still on the fence about it. I kind of want to paint the lips flat black. Any suggestions to help me decide?

No go on flat black lips IMO. I would prefer a high polish black lip and matte black center on your car.

If you did a satin lip, you would need dolphin grey centers

BTW don't send it back to DPE to get part of your wheel painted. My brother sent a set back there and I could have done a better job with a crayon.

Get the lips powdercoated black chrome, I love mine and they look good with black centers

i dont like the wheels but kinda what you're debating.
his wheels used to have a polished lip, but he got them painted black.
looks better all black.

Yeah, I like my lip too but I think the flat black lip will give it a stealth bomber look.

it's up to you, but i would personally go with a flat black center and leave the lips chrome. At the very most, i would color-match the lips if you wanted to, but i don't think that would leave you with much contrast.

i repaired my iforged wheels myself.. i had a little curbing on the lips i took a dremel(while on the car) evened it out with that and then went from like 300 gritt and just kept going up inb grit then polished them and you can't even tell! as long as there is no clear coat on your lips you are good to go.. if they are big gashes then you will need them welded to fill them then dremel sand and polish as 400HPA4 stated.... i will be taking my wheels apart this winter and polish the shit outta my lips and getting my spoked color matched(had it like that on my old shitty wheels and it looked great so i supposed on my nice wheels its gonna look amazing) and i will hav polished lip,centercaps,and bolts and have the faces color matched and the inside of the wheel color matched(so u can't see when its dirty) now with the iforged 3 piece wheels can you simply jus take them apart and put them back together just torqu them right or are there crush washers or seals or anything tht i will need?thanks

Dry polyester powder coating cures at 400 degrees for 45 minutes, does not matter if you do it yourself or with the Eastwwod DIY kit, the process is identical.

i agree. exhaust is definitely outta place with singles.

Well I'm going to fix the curb rash and repolish today. I just want to see how it goes. If it goes well, I'll probably keep the polished lips. If I mess up, I'm going flat.
