Car wants to 'go' when lifting gas pedal, ignition timing??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone experience this before? I don't mean the car accelerates more than when I had the pedal down, but after I go hard in say 4th or 5th and slowly lift the pedal - the car feels like it wants to 'go'.... I think this is an ignition timing thing that I need to adjust... so hard to describe, but the last time I experienced it, I think it meant turning a distributor cap.

    Ideas?

You could call it that... what is happening? is it my accumulated boost running off or something? I feel like something is operating out of range and needs a tweak.. ? Last motor I ever 'tuned' (adjusted) was carbeurated... ?

There are no issues with revs or anything... and AFR is pretty solid, just feels like I am wandering past some power range that the car really likes...

    Thanks,
    B.

no clue....would you say it happens at part throttle? what turbo do you have? 3071r? what wastegate?

I mostly notice when letting off after higher rpm revving.... I 'think' the timing advance is at play here...

GT2876, .86 ar, Turbonetics Deltagate wastegate.... oddly, I have recently come across a cpl DV mentions relating to surging... but under throttle... and I have had suspicions of low boost relating to the DV... going to swap it for the Forge 007 on my GLI and see what happens....

I could swear this is a timing thing though...

perhaps the spring is worn and leaking boost cause you don't have enough pressure to keep it closed? i dunno. try the new dv and check to see if its working right.

how much harder does it pull? this happens to me too, although im not bt...but from what i can remember, when you lift the pedal a little bit it causes you to run a bit lean. this will cause you to pull a bit harder. worth a shot tho, go WOT and lift a tiny bit and check to see if its running leaner.

i think the s4 guys have seen something similar. they said only going 75% wot got them faster times on the track.

this was the case my fathers 01 TT, 75 - 80% throttle was faster than WOT, and like poopie said, full boost + less fuel = leaner..

Thats the case with my supercharged a4. It accerates much faster at 80 % throttle

That wouldn't make sense as the throttle body should close when you let off the throttle which will cause it to run rich.

Edit: Ah, I didn't read you correctly. You said when you let off a little bit.

I actually have the same exact problem. I've been fiddling with stuff on my car to figure out the problem. I think it has to do with the software and N75 valve that is used. For some reason they don't cooperate too well. When I throw in my stock ECU, it fixes all the problems that are described in this thread.

What software are you guy using and are you using a different N75 valve than stock?

I am using piggyback fuel management, with an EBC. As you may have read, I have been suspecting my DV, which I am going to swap for a known working Forge on the week end... but I HAVE also been suspecting my EBC, it needs an upgrade badly.

I changed my DV from the 710N that was on there to a brand new one I ordered from ECS Tuning and the car seemed to hold boost a bit better but it didn't fix the problem.
