I'm in the same boat as t1demont1. $250 sounds like a lot for it even though it does look like a quality piece.

Re: Where to get a metal skid plate?

I was thinking of getting one until several different people and shops told me it wasn't necessary except for rally racing and to get the newer and sturdier plastic one and save some money.
I haven't made up my mind yet, I'm still driving with nothing.

$174.95 for a new oil pan from ECS if you crack it. If you keep driving after you notice a monster hole in your oil pan or worst case scenario your dummy light going on then that would be user error more than anything.

    Just my two cents.

Used to be... Now its $171.28. The OEM one is cheaper at $149.95 from ECS.

I should have grabbed one when it was cheaper because you're right... they used to only be like 80 or 90 bucks.

Until you dodge a 200 lb deer doing 90 at 3am and hit the curb, and guard rail and put a hole in your oil pan right next to the sump nut and have to have it replaced.

    New oil pan $150
Labor to replace oil pan $200
    Time and aggravation..............$100, 000, 000

The security that it wont happen, priceless.....

My next purchase....Panzer Plate - $250 plus shipping.

Re: Where to get a metal skid plate?

I've thought I would of killed the dieselgeek skidplate with the things I've hit..and Still has held up great. No dents just scraps.

Worth every penny...Who would want to change a oil pans out anyways..? Its not a 1,2,3 thing.

    Proof...
    Original.
