    Improper ABS activation, please Help

MY ABS is kicking in & making my brakes grind when i applied the brakes at slow or fast speeds stops. I just had my tech replace all 4 Zimmerman 321mm rotors, mintex pads, front entire both axels, & even flushed/changed to Motul Motul RBF600 fluids on my Stoptech 4 pistons calipers even still have the problem? Only the brake sensor light comes on, NO abs lights on. Other threads when i searched "ÄBS" said something to check about "wheel tone" or incorrect tire size could activate abs erroneously. I'm running 18" OZ Superleggeras now on my '02 S4 avant. Had same issue when i ran stock 17" S4 wheels.
Lastly, my tech says wait for abs lights to come on to know which side of front abs harness to possibly change & stupid abs light hasn't been activated for last 10k miles. Anyone had same issue?? TIA.

Re: Improper ABS activation, please Help

the issue is most likely a cracked tone ring on your axle.

the magnetic hall effect speed sensor will notice the cracked tone ring as the wheel locking or skidding and it applies ABS.

props to supraS4 on audiworld for discovering this

you can also log your speed sensors in vagcom just to make sure all 4 values conform ... if 1 is not responding then you know the sensor is bad ... go slow when doing this, dont crash!

Thanks DxC for help & guide!! I think & will look at my speed sensors then, becuz i changed both fronts axles few days ago so the tone ring on axles will probably be ruled out.
