U are upside down $12k on your 07?...Damn
So basically, you are putting down $3500($12000 minus $8500) and paying $868 to drive an A4?...Way too much...(depends on your credit of course)

Seems right. The trade in seems low for an 07 though. Is your current car a lease?

he'd still be $3500 in the hole if he owes 12 grand on his old car. so basically you've got the whole price of the new A4 plus the remaining $3500 on your old car rolled in.

not worth it. but the dealer will love you if take this "deal". they get to sell your old car for a profit, then take your lease back and sell that, and they made a little extra cash by absorbing what you owed on your old car and tacking it on to your lease price.

Huh? They "get to to sell his old car for a profit, then take the lease back and sell that?" He's only trading one car. Also, they make no money taking a lease back, they also will make no money 'absorbing what he owes" They make less profit 90% of the time with large amounts of negative equity in a trade since the bank (yes, even on a lease) will only finance a certain amount of money on a car. In other words, if the car has an MSRP of $43K, the bank won't finance $50K on it. Too high a risk so this means the dealer has to lower the real selling price to offset the negative in the trade.

orlandosk your 2007 is probably worth more, and you never mentioned what you were paying for the new one. Personally I would sit tight until December. Many manufactures will do big pushes at the end of the year, many more A4's will be at dealers so there will be more competition. I also wouldn't be afraid to shop.

Audi also requires dealers to have X amount of CPO cars, and this has caused auction prices to go up (not retail as much, but dealers will pay more for a car that can be certified and take smaller profit margin. This helps them get some quarterly money from Audi to offset it). What's the specs on your trade?

Wow, offering $18k for a '07 is uncalled for. You should try selling the car private party. Aside from that, snowballing a debt into a new lease is generally not a good idea :)
