Broken Stock downpipe at turbo, aftermarket catless dp time?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So right where the stock exhaust pipe connects to the turbo the stock exhaust perfectly separated almost like it came loose from the flange mounted to the turbo. Would an aftermarket downpipe with no cat bolt up to the stock exhaust after that first main cat? I'm assuming I would get crazy boost spike etc? I'm running stage one GAIC ECU.

Do you mean your cat separated from the flange where it connects to the turbo, or the downpipe separated from the flange where it connects to the cat?

When you get an aftermarket downpipe, the cat goes away and you keep that lower piece. And yes it would bolt right up.

I recommend a high flow cat rather than no cat.

You wouldnt get "ccrazy" boost and spikes, it would just hit boost faster.

Especially in New York get the high flow cat, unless you really like to bribe people.

yeah I need no cels to pass inspection which sucks, so does that mean I have to get a high flow cat? Or will it not throw cels unless you take out the other cat?

Happened to me with my A4. I pop'd it back in with a prybar and put a line of weld on it. Fixed the problem.

I'm thinking I'll do the same, and maybe put a hose clamp around it or something till I can get it to someone with a welder. Although it is tempting to put aftermarket downpipe on it to help spool up.

Ah, and it's the one right up front by the turbo, I can see why people would want a catless downpipe or high flow

Re: Broken Stock downpipe at turbo, aftermarket catless dp time?

The stock exhaust pipe does not attach to the turbo

    turbo>cat>downpipe>midpipe>resonator>pipe to exhaust muffler

In NY, you can pass inspection with 1 readiness code off. Either replace the cat or get an aftermarket one. My inspection needs to be redone this month and I have a HFC. I get an occasional P0420 code for my HFC (did not do the fouler mod yet), but VAG Com still has the catalyst ready with the cel there. It is when I clear the code I have to wait for the readiness again.
