Coming from an A6 to a A4 is a big downgrade in power even with a k04. You are coming from ~325chp (w/chip) to a stock B5 A4 that is either 150bhp or 170bhp(01 model). A k04 turbo upgrade is for one thing, not worth it nowadays unless you find one used, it will give you roughly 235chp, and there are just better turbos out there. If you are looking for similar or better chp than the A6 you had, I would look into the GTRS and up.
Of course the A6 is heavier, but I am talking chp.
And to upgrade to a k04, you would need tune, injectors, fpr, fmic, mbc, tip, and exhaust set up. All could be had for fairly cheap. You could find a used ECU with a k04 file and all other parts can be found for cheap. Ebay fmic and all. It is the turbo that is expensive, if you can even find it at all. Those things are on back order like a constipation patient
. When there is a used one in the classfied section, better jump on it right away.
