I hear there is no need to change the cams on this car? as it makes no difference...
any advice anything would be great.
i am leaning towards copying a setup like Shawn's. just simply making the engine stronger.
And is it worth a 2.0 stroker?
If u make the walls thinner on the cylinder block is that not worse for us as we have boosted cars=lots of pressure
thanks so much guys i know there is lots of information on the forums, But there is not much on building engines and what not. What are our choices for pistons, rods etc...
My machine shop was telling me that with pistons and rods some port work and the right tune, we can get her at 350-400 and change easy.
The right tune will go very far. The majority of the B6 builds right now are running off-the-shelf tunes and (in my opinion) is holding them back from making big power.
2.0 is more displacement. More displacement inherently is more power and it helps with off-boost power and drivability.
There are a lot of B5 builds and a special forum dedicated to it:
http://audizine.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=145. There are also a few B6 builds but most of them aren't really documented.
Camshafts help the engine breathe and increase mid-range and top-end power.

Tuning will be done in a few weeks and I'll have power figures (dyno graphs) and will be going to the track (1/4mile) to back-up those power figures.
Everyone has their own opinions on what works and what doesn't work. So far,
no one has stepped up to the plate with power figures and 1/4 mile times to back up their configurations. Its all up in the air as of today so I encourage you to search and around and do some reading before spending money.
