'05 S4 on par with?

I tried to run a search but only found comparison type information on B5 S4's. I am wondering what it would take or how close an 05 S4 is to being on par with a newer STI or even a 2008 WRX? Any information would be appreciated.

I know they are two different animals, but my buddy owns a '08 WRX and i know he will be wanting to talk some crap.

Stock for stock you win. It depends on what he has done with his car.

That is why I am looking for an S4. The new WRX is a really nice car, but that elegance is what im after. I already have an '01 A4 that the wife with inherit when I get my S4 :)

I think off the line he'll get you, but you'll start pulling on him pretty quick.

If he is stage 2 (exhaust and ecu flash) it will be close but you'll pull away at 80+. If the turbo is upgraded he will beat you but you'll close in over 100 or so. I had an 03 and the boxer 4cyl really falls on its face at higher speeds unless you have a pretty big turbo. Stock for stock he MAY get a slight jump but youll pass him and never look back shortly after.
