Whew, after a week of no driving, finally got my b6 back today. I decided at 93,000 miles It was overdue for a tune up. I purchased the car at 80k miles and had since then only replaced the air filter and done 2 oil changes. She still ran well but I was starting to notice more engine noise and lost of ride smoothness. Anyways here's what my mechanic did for my b6. And I included the link to the timing belt kit in case anyone wanted it.

-Full timing belt change $199.95 (kit did not include accesory drive belt, valve covers and water pump) theimportexports

-Water pump & accesory drive belt & two valve covers $150 from ECS tuning

-Bosch Premium Oil Filter and Oil change with Pentosin synthetic oil (7+- liters used) $55 ECS tuning

-NGK Iridium spark plugs and new Bremi Coils - These were purchased at Advanced Auto Parts plugs were $7.99 a piece, coils were $39.99 total = $290

-About 3 liters of Pentosin G12 antifreeze - $20 from local import shop

-New fuel filter $50 ECS tuning

-K&N filter to replace standard brand - $39 from Advanced Auto parts

-Thermostat $57 from local Import car shop. (online they sell for nearly $100) If anyone needs one I could get you one for cheaper, just shoot me a pm.

-Transmission oil change, brake fluid change mechanic did this free of charge.

My mechanics a good guy, he's been working on my families vehicles for nearly a decade now. He charged me $300 and a case of beer. He's slow works on cars on his freetime but he's precise and a great guy all around. Stealership would of charged $1000+ for timing belt alone.

    Total = $1160.95
    case of beer, already had

should of bought a Honda.... all this would of been $200

    Re: Tune up

    fuel filter, yes it was.

And yes, the car is running much smoother now. She sounds and feels great. Also I think the ease of mind that I've gotten her tuned up plays a big deal in it as well. I hate driving down the road anticipating for something to go wrong.

    Re: Tune up

Should've tossed in a seafoam treatment, you can do that on your own really easily and it does make quite a nice difference. For me it did anyway. You would have to wait till your next oil change though, I highly recommend it.

    Re: Tune up

Why the thermostat? Was it going bad? Unless it goes bad there is no reason to replace it.

Since he needs to drain the coolant for the waterpump, he can do it as a precaution.

Seafoam was sent by god If anything you should at least put it through your vacum line and clean up those pistons, and valves.

Here's a pic of my valves at 215k miles on my jeep cherokee running on cheap dirty gas(arco)

    Pic of the garage.

    Re: Tune up

Look cleaner than my Audis valves at 70k. But I have used 3 cans of seafoam since then.
