    Electric Fan upgrade possible?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a 97 A4 2.8. I was wondering if I could upgrade my cluch fan and cooling fan to an electric fan. (you know the one mounted on the back of the radiator) Just wondering bc my clutch fan bearing has gone to shit..it's getting to sound poor.

    |Thanks|

So you didn't have an electric fan b4 you bought this one, and installed it? Also is the install difficult? Probably same labor as a TB.

    No.
    1. Remove bumper cover
    2. drain radiator and remove/set aside A/C condenser
    3. Remove radiator
    4. Install electric fan and temp controller/thermoswitch.
    5. reinstall parts in steps 1-3

I'm pretty sure anybody with minor mechanical skills could do it, there isn't much fabricating necessary at all. Depending on the wiring and how the thermoswitch is done, makes the difficulty.

Put one in my car. Bought a electric fan and switch from Summit and a shorter belt from Purems.

    Re: Electric Fan upgrade possible?

as per the original poster, don't you still run the pulley from the belt driven fan, just removing the fan clutch and fan (my fan clutch is stuck on to my pullet like you wouldn't belive ...) there for requiring a working fan pulley bearing?
