Who has a built motor??

There has been on ton of threads about going BT but not alot about building the motor! Im thinking about going BT but i want to build the motor for alittle reliability(not sure its even possible at this point) What internals are you guys running? pistons etc... how much chedder am i looking at spending?? lets hear your set ups!

No cleaning is needed really. The deck of the head and block need to be cleaned of any buildup, and also the pistons of any exhaust buildup around the rings. A quick hone with a flew hone on the cylinders and you're good to go

Until they no longer hold compression If they are not wearing unneccesarily, they should last just as long as OEM

Parts can be found from many different sources. We can get into that later. Gotta figure out what your goals are to determine what gets done to your engine/car/system.

It is always a good idea to have the block cleaned out since 1.8t's have a big oil sludge issue. I have mine cleaned out every time I rebuild the engine.

kk thx! my goals along with like everyone;) is around 300WHP give or take so i was planning on doing the GTRS Elim plans might change, but thats all i have figured out thus far.

Welcome to a handful of other threads on the first page (AZ B6 A4 forum) regarding the same goals as you just specified.

Think about what you want to accomplish and your budget and then the engine/turbo combination will come together.

Except you don't have a forged crank so you don't fit into the 'luxurious' category. I classify that as fully forged bottom end (crank, rods, pistons) and fully built head (valves, springs, cams, etc..). right back at you. haha
I think Jordan might be the only one outside of Charlie's old Avant's motor.

Engine should be in the car tomorrow and car all back together Thursday.

Do all you want to make yourself feel better for spending twice as much on rods as what was needed. Plenty of VW guys pushing IE drop in rods into the mid 500 wheel range and never ONE failure due to a bad or faulty rod. Wait until after my HRE's are fixed and sold. Your head on my car with a 35R may just be faster

With what? Forged crank?

If you get Pauter rods there is an option to get forced pin oiling ones. That is what I put in for my last build for an extra sense of security...

My 1.8T is still has the stock motor.
