Question Calling all BT guys... (New Question)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
OK guys, here is the deal... The wife has finally let loose on her "no more power" chain and is allowing me to go BT (with all the extra goodies that go with it...)

Here is the issue that I have. I have a TIP.... yeah, yeah I know... I suck... Anyway... will the TIP Tranny hold up with a GT28RS?? 034 Motorsports seems to think it will. Any and all advice is GREAT!! I will be gone for 7 months to Iraq, so I have enough time to get the proper parts, etc...

    Re: Calling all BT guys...

it should hold up just fine as long as you dont beat the hell out of it... i believe IPT makes performance torque converters and valve bodys for the TIP trans.. http://www.importperformancetrans.com/

so that way you could beat the hell out of it.

You'll be fine. Even if you beat the shit of the tranny. A valve body upgrade will get you crisper shifts and an upgraded torque converter will allow you to put more power to the ground because the stock torque converter will slip on purpose.

Here's my dyno from last year. Notice how the torque suddenly drops off around 5300 RPM's. Yeah, the the torque converter saying "ummmmm, no!":

    Re: Calling all BT guys...

read my thread... i started few threads and my most recent one is me doing a GTRS... and u dont need the WHOLE tranny upgrade like RLB6 said all u need it TQ and valve body later. do TQ first... with the GTRS setup dont need a TQ.... i have spoken and met with a lot of GTRS Owners... and they beat the crap out of their car.. and its running fine. =)

Your torque dropped at 5300 because that is where is suppose to drop! It crosses HP at 5250 and falls from there.

That's not entirely true. There are plenty of dynos where torque is continuing to increase and other that start to fall way before that 5250 point. Also, look at how quickly torque fell on my dyno as compared to yours.

You fall off at almost the exact same rate. His looks like it falls off slower because of the scale on the graph. You can scale a graph to make it look long or tall.

At 6500 you are down to 220 from your peak of 250.... 88%

I see your point. Didn't realize that. . Still, a tiptronic equipped A4 will slips its TQ when a certain power level/torque is attained. Period.

Either BT setup will yield the same results from the tranny

    Re: Calling all BT guys...

    The reason I ask is...

APR seems to think it won't hold... However 034, and you guys seem to think it will...
