What downpipes to use with my Milltek Catback?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I bought my B6 S4 with a Milltek catback already installed. I want to add downpipes but have heard mixed reviews of the Milltek DP's(plus they're expensive).

Any suggestions? Will another manufacturer's DP's work with my Milltek. I had heard that APR will...

DPs are expensive no-matter who you go with. Unless you want a little more low-frequency grunt, i'd keep it factory. No HP to be gained here.

You should gain something with the Dp's on a B6 S4. I had a set of Millteks and never had one issue with them. Sold them and the second owner has no issues with them.

downpipes will help our V8.... but they are very expensive... i would either complete your milltek full system (mainly because it sounds incredibly good) or go with Fast intensions DP's if you want to see a little better quality (imo) and more power.... if you want to go cheap.... and still see gains...maybe sound... you can just have your factory dp's modified...(aka/ first cat taken out)... it cost about 400 .... i forget who does it but i can find out if your actually interested....

Not sure if they will mate up properly, but the cheapest DP's that I've seen are the APRs...I think they run about $1k.

Re: What downpipes to use with my Milltek Catback?

you can make APR pipes work... you'll just have to have them stretched to fit over milltek pipes... any exhaust shop can do that. and yes you will notice power gain.

there is some midrange gain, i had the full milltek...wouldnt recommend the milltek dps because of my personal experience with the cats going bad

i hear good things about APR, you may want to try them and save yourself a grand, but then again i heard good things about milltek before i dropped coin on those

There are absolutely HP gains with DP's there are all kind of before after dyno's out there. Anyway I have AWE DP's which are pricey, but they are very nice, pics in my gallery. The DP's are going to give the most when combined with Cat back, and a Flash.

I am also looking into getting down pipes. It actually looks like the piggies from Vast would be the best bet!

Independent dynos show otherwise. Seems to be some low end to be gained from them. Catbacks seem a good mod as well. Like another poster said, the APR ones are 1K and on their sales they can be had for $850. I like mine a lot. Keep in mind on a car that already has 340hp, it's not nearly as noticeable to add 25hp/30tq or so to it with a $2000 exhaust as a 170hp turbo 4 cylinder adding 40hp/60tq with a $500 chip.

    cheers! Mike

Re: What downpipes to use with my Milltek Catback?

If you add DP's to a stock B7 , sure the gains wont be much.... it would be like drinking water from a fire hose to the rest of the restricted ass exhaust. However as I stated , if combined with cat back and a flash you will recognize a bigger gain...... Cheers.
