i would not trust it. too many variables involved for an intercooler to actually cause you to lose performance if not perfectly up to spec. go buy a water/meth kit from snow or someone with proven technology.

use hairspray to tighter connection? Ummm... last time i used hairspray under working conditions was to put new grips on my BMX bike... when i was 12.

No testing, dyno, airflow charts, anything to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside about buying this?

I'd say be very very cautious, but I'd love to hear this is a decent step up from our dual stocks. So cheap!

our stock dsmic work well enough imo that it's not worth it to change to an untested intercooler even if it's $100. that core looks smaller than our two side mounts put together.

    Re: Ebay Intercooler....INPUT NEEDED

you get what you pay for, in the end it might not be worth it.

Companies spend lots of money to test the fmic to have optimal results for their FMIC. I would save up some more money and get a different fmic. You dont want to have worse conditions than stock. The FMIC could not get enough air, dissipate heat better, etc.

This ebay fmic is more than likely a replica of the greddy fmic, says no cutting required, but no one knows that. no logs, etc posted...would have me worried. I like the rest, love to get things cheap..but if you order this and it shows a decrease in performance, etc...is it really worth it?

I am running the GSG FMIC, from day 2 and it has been phenomenal, gains and air temp/ratio. I suggest saving your money for a different FMIC, whether it be a GSG or a competing company. If you have questions about their FMIC, shot me a pm and ill help you with any questions you might have.

would someone care to elaborate? i know fmics can result in lose of psi, however they make up for this in having more constand pressure and temps. what other factors come into play?

Flow; turbulence within an intercooler is never good.

Trust you about a product that has no backing? Looks like every other IC from china? GSG went out in my book when they were selling a $300 pipe that did nothing. Infact that core on ebay is bigger then GSG core.

In this case, a lot of people on the forum have already read our site and this post, which is why they now understand why more expensive = better when it comes to our product:

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=234990

Bottom line: NO FMIC that resides completely below the crash bar will show any real gains vs the stock dual ICs when tested in higher outside temps or when chipped and beyond.

The volume underneath the crash bar is basically the same volume as both side mounts stacked together. A FMIC of that size looks sexy, but it does very little at best, and higher intake temps at worst, when compared to the stock system.

That is why our core is so large. We tested all sorts of configurations, and that is the only size that worked on the dyno, street, and track and with chipped and big turbo power.

I agree with you that AWE does in fact have extensive research done to their product lines but im saying that GSG's intercooler is also very good, regardless on the unit size.
Yes AWE's intercooler core is huge, but both products are designed differently.
Thumbs up to AWE tho for having the hugest core known to the audi world haha

on my 1.8t gli i ran an ebay fmic kit... godspeed core with "greddy piping". Now it didnt say greddy piping but i had a friend with the greddy kit and side by side the piping was identical. Now the kit as a whole was awesome, fitment was no issues although you do have to add the map sensor flange and a barb for a vaccumm line. that isnt shit though.
worked great, looked great, happy with my purchase.

I would be willing to install one on my car if someone wants to buy one for me!!!!

I have a question to icemole.... why do you say the gsg intake dosent do anything? Did you install one on your car and no get any throttle response, or better low end torque? I know it is expensive but do you have a direct problem with it?

Seems like you have a problem with GSG and the products. If you look up the gb section, someone posted a dyno from their fmic with piping.

Just because these "few" guys are working in a "garage" doesnt mean they are not creditable developers and lack the type of abilities as a company like AWE. Now, I dont want to get into a comparison between AWE and GSG, it would be an never ending battle and its difficult more so unfair to compare companies, each have there pros and cons.

When I met with GSG, they blew me away with their knowledge of cars and of the industry...I was working very close with them for their upcoming true cold air intake and was around for their FMIC. They did a lot of R&D and their product is great quality and build, it was not slapped together as many people think. They didnt do this in their garage, rather their shop. I dont feel it necessary to discredit their hard work because they are not as known as other companies.

Their intake pipes have had nothing be positive results and feedback from AZ members, what does that mean? If you feel their products are too expensive, that is fine everyone has their own opinion, but for others its money well spent.

You dont even have the intake piping, how can you even say its not worth the money if you havent tried it?

Na I have no problem with GSG, the more people developing the better. My reply was to that GSG is the best. My motor is scheduled to be built this winter and I was just posting my opinion of what I will be using. This is why I stay out of b7 forum, can't post an opinion on anything without getting neg repped and flamed.

    Re: Ebay Intercooler....INPUT NEEDED

Ahhh good ol' Ebay. The demise of Greddy and a handful of other companies.
Must be nice to just steal products and mold them in China with 9yr old sweatshop workers and then market it at a price we can't even develop them for not to mention they don't have to do R&D or risk engines\cars since we already did that for them.
You probably shouldn't be on the forums period if you're not going to support the community that you want to take part in.
We all openly share a vast knowlege of mechanics and help and offer products specifically to AZ for cheaper than anywhere else and we do this because of the love for the Euro cars and the Euro scene.

There's a ton of DSM and Honda forums where they use ebay products simply because they can't afford some of the bigger name items but if you've got a $40k car there's no excuse to sidestepping all the work and helpfullness of the supporting companies on here to save $200.
You will get no warranty and no backing with ebay products. If you slap it on and it blows your turbo or jacks up your engine they will not take blame for any of it and it will all be on your dime without any help or shop recommendations or discounts on repairs. They'll definately sell you another one for the same great price though !

AWE makes some tremendous products and have done so for years, as do a slew of other companies on here.
I would never want it to be one choice alone for a product as that would just get boring. The more companies making quality stuff the better IMO.

uhh actually godspeed is a pretty good company that chose to use ebay as their selling platform through distribution. Ive used their "racing" radiators before and they were excellent quality. As far as im aware, theres two size cores you can use. one will require the crashbar to be removed, and the other fits under it.

Greddy met its dimise for a whole nother reason then ebay.

I have the GodSpeed core. Nothing but awesomeness. I still have my rebar on. And I was able to lower my intake temps 18 degrees F. (I ran test with Vag-Com, between my car and HID's car)
