    Custom lines for elim

After a long ordeal and eventual fuck up with ATP, I have decided to get custom lines for my 71r elim kit. I just spoke with a local shop that can make them, now I need some final details from educated BT'ers. I also don't have access to my car that makes this a bit more difficult. First of all, I definitely need a new oil return since the last one failed with my turbo, which is partially why I decided against ATP.

The main info I need are the names of the fittings for the various lines. I told the guy on the phone that I assumed most Garrett turbos use the same fittings so he quoted me $20 per 4ft of braiding ss line, then $6-$14 for various fittings. He said it would probably be around $100 for oil feed/return and coolant feed/return! He also the the oil feed A/N fitting would be a -6 or something. Please respond to the following:

EDIT: The car doesn't run atm, which is why I must tell him all this over the phone. Obviously it would be much easier to bring him the car/turbo and figure out for himself but I can't do that.

    Oil Feed:
(estimated length) + fitting type(turbo end)+(oil filter area end)

    Oil Return:
(estimated length) + fitting type(same on both ends correct?)

    Coolant Feed:
Type(braided ss or silicone?) + (estimated length) + fittings(both ends)

    Coolant Return:
Type(braided ss or silicone?) + (estimated length) + fittings(both ends)

Thanks for the help. My car has been sitting since July 30th and with this info I can finally get everything installed!

That's lookin good. I love the smile of accomplishment as he makes the bend. I wouldn't mind buying the tools and learning but I doubt I'd ever need them again. How much do they cost? Also if the $300 APR oil return was the only option, I'd definitely make my own but all lines for ~$120 isn't bad at all. What turbo/car is that GTI interesting cold side with the 90 bend in the housing.

Thanks Shawn that's just the kind of detail I was looking for. I now see your point about the price. I think this is the kind of thing where the guys doesn't do it too often and is kinda screwing himself about the price. Of course if he charges me piece by piece like that then I will be the one paying the price. I can give him this parts list and see what he comes up with pricewise. Even if the ATP scenario is the case, I'd gladly pay $319 for all 4 lines that $300 for just the APR oil feed. Thanks again for writing that up for me.

    Re: Custom lines for elim

UPDATE: It's funny that I made this thread over a month ago, and I still don't have these lines made. I gave the guy the list Shawn posted(without the prices and ATP part numbers of course), and he assured me again that it would be around $100 for ALL 4 LINES. After 3 weeks of waiting for the parts he tells me he doesn't know what one of the banjo fitting is for, so I linked him the ATP part # and he ordered it from them. Now the big question is, who thinks these lines are actually going to fit properly? I have no doubt in the list the Shawn made, but unfortunately these are not being made by his shop.

Mainly what I'm worried about are the fittings on the turbo end. He asked me multiple times to confirm whether it was for a GT series or a T3/T4 and obviously I said GT. Since the Elim uses a K04 hotside, I was recalling from memory that where the lines etc attach had a Garrett placard on it, from which I would assume that the CHRA is still from the GT25/28 and these fittings would work. So who thinks they will work I will have my car back next week, or who foresees a problem in which case I won't see my car till December since I will be gone for Thanksgiving? (for the record that would be 4 months. I haven't been without a car this long since I could drive. Thankfully at school I can walk/bike everywhere, and I'm happy to not have payed for gas for the last 3 months.)
