    Headlamp restoration

    Hello AZ,

My headlamps are getting pretty yellow and crusty looking. I wanted to upgrade my lights to HIDs but I think that the beauty of HIDs would be lost in the crust of my lights.

Has anyone ever tried this: http://www.headlightsolution.net/index.html

It looks pretty legit, and the price isn't bad.

    Re: Headlamp restoration

This kit sounds like a sand paper kit. It will work and will clean nicely but with a lot of elbow grease. I bought a kit called poly hog comes with polishing paste and polishing head that attaches to a rototary tool or drill. For maximal cleaning you need a tool that will go 2500 rpm. I had light hazing on a set of headlights and it worked great. It was just easier than sanding. The kit was about 35.00. They also sell a polishing gun for around 100 dollars.

I just did this on my c5 a6. I experimentally picked up a kit at autozone I believe, and was more than pleasantly surprised... It took about ~45 mintues by hand and the end product looked like a brand new headlight. Here is a link to the exact product I used:

yeah man I was a little skeptical, especially at that price... I wish I had a before and after, but in all honesty, it made the headlights look BRAND new
