I have a 2002 audi a4 avant. It just hit 100k on last monday and my friend jinxed me. I was bragging how its been no problem, and now..........

I have had a little radiator leak for about a year now. The car leaks a little puddle of coolant from a crack in the plastic radiator. It was no big deal but now i have a coolant light on, and today when i turned on the heat it was just blowing cold air. Are these 2 things related? How much is a new radiator?

Also, for a little while now. It is a manual shift, and it seems really tough to get in gear. It does not grind, but is just tough. When i let out the clutch sometimes the car is really jerky. Almost like i cant drive a stick. i have been driving one for 5 yrs. What could this be? When i bought the car it never did this.

Thats it for now im tired.

    Help!

Between the engine block and the firewall there is a plastic Y that is attached to the block, what this does is that it routes coolant back to radiator in one side, and to the heater through the other side. With time it will wear out on the engine block side (specially its seal) and start to leak. First some drops, then gradually it will start leaking until its very noticeable. I had to change this on my previous B6, it cost me like $26 on the dealership, but its a PIA to change.

It could be this or any other thing... good luck!

Re: My car is acting funny.

My car was acting the same way Tranny wise and i just had to replace it due to the tranny blowing up in a shift. When we pulled it out someone before me had cracked the Fill plug and so forever i had been leaking fluid which broke it...

As for the heater, my car does the same thing, its almost as if it blows A/C when i turn it on... if you vag it there should be a code about some malfunction. it's a little door that directs which cold or hot air gets into the vents, mine is either broke or just stuck (i live in texas and i dont know if they ever used the Heat :p) Thats what your heat issue should be.

The radiator if you say you can see the leak then ok, but as the other guy said i too replaced my coolant flange on the back of the block due to a BLOWN o-ring, lol it wasnt even there anymore.

    I have a '02 sedan 1.8T 5speed...
