    Rub Rub Rub your... H&R & 245's??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Here's thing, I've been doing some massive searching for the last 3 days trying to find whether or not 245/35/19's (Vredestein Sessanta's ) will rub 2008 A4 Quattro on H&R springs.. What I've found was a LOT of conflicting information.

Some say, "no problems at all" some say "don't even think about it" so which is it??? All tires are made differently, some run wide & some don't, so if you have a 245/35/19 with a drop (similar to H&R springs ) & have no problems.. or LOTS of problems would you please post up the specs of your tires and a drop.

I need to decide between 235/35/19 and 245/35/19's by end of day tomorrow.
    BTW I am getting 19x8.5 wheels w. 35 offset...
It's an expensive mistake to make so I hope to get some knowledgeable feedback!

    Thanks for all the help!

all rims are made differently. Offset before tire size.

tires brands are different too. i had toyo's on my b6 usp rims with 10 & 12mm spacers and adjusted my coils perfectly to 25" with no rubbing. then i got nitto's same size and rubbed often.

problem with that is that i dont want my tire to stretch.. trying to get maximum amount of rubber with a level sidewall height.. if you get a tire too small it pulls the sides making the height of the rubber (overall diameter ) lower.. - something that i am also trying to avoid.

most people say to go with 235's to avoid rubbing but i see your dilema, i'm not a fan of the stretched look either. i'd prob go 235's to be safe. i'd rather have the option to lower it to my liking

side wall on a 245 will be higher than a 235

on a stock wheel 18x8 ti - tire size is 235/40/18 new wheel is 18x8.5 so its wider.. hence my belief that the tire should be wider.. to accommodate the new rim width.. and thats where i ran into problems, some say stick with OEM width due to potential rubbing and others recommend wider stating that there is no rubbing whatsoever..

I am running 245/40/18 and had rubbing problems, with 5 and 15mm spacers, took off and it worked like a charm!

edit: rubbing only happened up steep drive ways, not when people were in the car

not that this is much help, but i run 18x8 +35 offset with 245 and rub, but only with 3 or more people in the car for the most part and only on bigger dips.

    good luck!

on a side note, 245 or 235 will not rub if you are on stock suspension...it all depends on how low your car is!

From what I understand 235 is plenty of rubber for 8.5" wheels. Even VMR and tirerack recommend 235s.

I had the same dilemma but I wanted the 245s for the more aggressive look. I played it safe and went with the 235s and I have no issues whatsoever.

that's why i asked. i remember seeing your posts on the v710 threads. i am still considering getting them now too and powdercoating them matte black. the cheapest i've seen here is 125 each where others on the nets been paying 75 so i don't wanna over pay 200 when vmr says they'll come out with them in matte black in a few months. man, decisions decisions. definitely post up pics when you get it done i'm very interested in seeing our ibis titaniums with gunmetal v710s.

Ran 255/35 18s on 18x8.5 ET35 wheels with absolutely no rubbing. Ran 265/35 19s on 19x8.5 ET37 wheels with only minor rubbing in the rear when 4 were in the car.

In both cases the car was lowered using Stasis SL COs.

255/35 18s at stock height. Even lowered (no pics) had no rubbing. Sorry - it's a 3 year old picture...

    265/30 19s

    FWIW - 235/40 18s on 18x8.5 ET35 SSR Comps. Again, no rubbing.

I am actually doing a photo shoot in Downtown LA with about a dozen exotics ( Aston DBS, R34 BlackBird, TVR etc.. ) so i couldnt just show up with something.. same? - i will post up pics most definitely!

but meanwhile back to the tire search for me :( grr

I have 245/30/20s and even though I do have a 30 as apposed to a 35mm sidewall I think the 245 should work fine. I am lowered pretty far on stasis coils and I don' have rubbing. 235/35/19s are recommended for 19" wheels so there really isn't a great reason to go to 245s but I guess for looks and some more rubber.

well then get the 245s, its obviously what you want and others have stated that you won't rub, especially if you are on springs and not coils (non racing springs that is)

This is what will happen to my car - if can finally get the damn tire size!!

this is the original picture showing the drop ( H&R Springs ) - hopefully the owner doesnt mind me CHOPPING IT..

Keep in mind - currently i have stock sport suspension , but i will be putting H&R springs on the car. which will drop it.. and unlike coils i cant adjust it. - so tire size has to be good since the get go.

if you're only getting h&r springs.. then you should be fine with 245's. 235's are generally recommended by people with coils that have lower drops than what springs offer.

excepttttt.. when height of rubber goes down and chances of rim getting messed up is a lot.. form and function not just "looks" IMO though.. - i guess i grew out of my drifter ( stretch my tires on 10.5 W rims ) phase lol
