    Brake Pads?

Its time for me to replace my brake pads....Ran across these on ECSTuning...but I keep hearing about how they mark their products prices much higher than other competitors. Is 123.57+shipping around what they would cost else where? I don't mind paying the price just don't want to overpay for what I'm getting.

I just ordered the Hawk Ceramics, I've heard nothing but good things and should cut back on the horrible amount of brake dust I get now!

Facing a similar dilemma. Had Red Stuff ceramics on last audi and they were noisy and didn't make much of a difference in dust. I later read that ceramics were meant for factory ceramic rotors...i.e. they don't mesh well with our steel rotors. Can anyone suggest a decent pair of pads that work as good as or better than factory and not ruin my wheel with dust in 2 days?!

I doubt that's true, never heard of special ceramic pad rotors maybe on supercars. I have used ceramic pads and they are very low dust, no noise, and never any rotor issues. I've heard bad things about the EBC redstuff pads though.

Tire Rack is $124 plus shipping, might want to see if they'll be cheaper on shipping.

Yeah ceramic rotors and pads are on a lot of the newer supercars, but they are making there way down the pike to high-end lux cars and the like. And yes I did have the EBC's and they were noisy and offered slightly better (if not the same) dust build up as factory steel. I'd like to know what pads you use/recommend since you seem to have had a good experience with them. My knuckles need a break from cleaning these dang rims, thx.

    Re: Brake Pads?

I say go for the Carbotech Bobcat Brake Pad. I have used Hawk Hps on zimmermann rotors. They are great. But I feel the Carbotech Bobcat are the way to go.

Check out http://www.purems.com/ for Carbotech Bobcat.
For the Hawk pads check out http://raceshopper.com/

    Re: Brake Pads?

i bought them from ecs at that price.

for those who are wondering, they bite a bit better than OEM but i can't say they're REALLY the best pads out there because i haven't tried any other than these and the stock ones. But i'd like to note however, that these don't bite as hard as they're supposed to when they're cold, i.e. right after a cold start. But after you brake lightly a few times, they're good. Not to mention they give off a lot less dust than stock brakes.

Also, they make absolutely no noise on my car. I used the anti squeak shit they give you

I don't think I can justify at this time spending over 250 dollars for brake pads. I just checked out the raceshopper.com site for a quote on the Hawk Ceramic's.

    RaceShopper.com Quoted me at:
    2006 AUDI A4 Sedan - w/ 320mm front disc
(front) HAWK CERAMIC BRAKE PADS $114/set
(rear) HAWK CERAMIC BRAKE PADS $69/set

Looks like I am ordering off of ECS tuning. It does not mention any anti squeak gel in the pad kit, should I order some from ECS or just get some at a local Auto Zone for like 5 bucks? Are they the same thing?
