What Exhaust For 2007 RS4?

My friend just bought a 07 RS4 in black and wants an exhaust but doesn't know which is best for the car. He paid cash for the car so he obviously doesn't care about cost just wants nice subtle sound and good performance. He had a E46 M3 with a very expensive exhaust before so he is into the classy stuff.

Well, if this guy paid cash and money is no object, then there is only one chioce, MTM. If he wants a good refined sound that isn't too loud then milltek resonated with the valves. If he wants it a little loud sometimes then Milltek unresonated with the valves. That is the setup that I have and I love it. It's actually the best of both worlds.

As far as the downpipes, don't do it. It really doesn't give the RS any more power and it'll void the warranty if some issue with the engine should come up.

Tubi is also another choice but it doesn't come in a cat back system. it's only the mufflers.

I wouldn't do the GMG system because the cans and tips are the ugliest things that I have ever seen. granted, it may sound good, but for some reason, it doesn't look right on this car. Milltek looks the best.

As far as looks go, I've had many compliments to the system, and I think it looks great.

The other systems sound good as well. In my opinion, you really can't go wrong with any of the aftermarket systems, it just depends on what type of exhaust note he's looking for.

Has anybody installed just an ECS H PIPE, and if so what are your thoughts on volume level and quality of sound. I've read that the H pipe is the best bang for you buck and also keeps the funtionalitily of the S button. Not sure how much performance gain you get though.

I paid cash for mine but I have about $15K in it not $50K. This guy makes like $170K/Year and is 29 and lives alone in a nice $100K house so he has lots to spend on himself. Well it is a lot to a guy that makes $40K/year + owns a $100K house and has a car and a new bike. He makes as much in a week as I do in a month.

Lets just say if a house is 250k in Chicago, its probably 110-120 in Indiana.

If cost is not a concern, there simply is no substitute for MTM. It is by far, the best sounding, best constructed, best fitting system on the market, but it is double to quadruple the cost of other systems. Don't bother with any downpipes, however, as this is basically pissing money away. No gains whatsoever with DP's on the RS4. Milltek would be my second choice but the finish on them hasn't been superb as of late. Personally, I have the Milltek resonated and valved catback. I am very happy with the sound, full functionality, and increased smoothness of the powerband. I believe there is something like an 8-12hp gain but that can't really be felt at this overall power level. Definite improvement in how the car revs, however. (not that stock is bad). I did have to do a little finish work to the milltek myself, however, to get it to look like I wanted.

I am happy with the Milltek, but if I was going to do it again, I would spend the extra $$$ and get the MTM.
