    Question Is this to much?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello Everyone,

I am currently looking at a 2005 S4 with 42,000 miles on it. Its auto and loaded with everything shy of the navigation. The dealer wants $26,500. Is that a fairly good deal?

Also they can add an extended warranty for $1800 and it is suppose to be a really good one. Anyone have recommendations for a good company for extended warranties?

    Thanks in advance

    J

I paid 28k for a 2005 (in service 6/30/2005) in late July. Car had 24,971 miles on it and a year of original warranty left.

I am going to buy an INDS warranty next June before the original one is up.

    Re: Is this to much?

a nice little trick i used to try and look at some different prices besides the autotrader,ebay,cars.com route was to go on google.com and type in

    -> site:craigslist.org "200x audi s4"

I found a whole bunch of cars for sale all over the place just to give you some additional info on whereabouts for pricing on the car

also edmunds.com is a good place to search

and by the way...if the dealer wants 26,500....knock them down atleast 3,000

they have a lot of fluff in those cars... I just bought a 04 s4 with 43050...they wanted 27000....i got them down to 23995

    good luck with your purchase!

    Re: Is this to much?

I picked up my grey 2005 S4 6 MT with 32,000 miles for $23,500 and got a 4 yr extended warranty, full exclusionary and $0 deductible for $2200. Out here in CA, I noticed the Automatics going for less than the 6 MT, and noticed the 2005.5 and up going for more than the 2005 and 2004's. I'd negotiate the dealer down a bit, maybe $23,500 due to the downturn in the economy and the fact its a gas guzzling V8 and old body style already.

    Re: Is this to much?

they probably got it from some poor sucker for under $20k so keep that in mind. I've found that most of the time dealers offer WAY low on trade and then put them on the lot for 20% higher with the whole "cpo" value added purchase crap. try to find out what they go for at auction. that's where it's at, they won't offer more than auction on trade so why should they make a killin on both ends?!

    Re: Is this to much?

Thank you everyone for the information. I will continue to see if i can work him down more. He had the car listed at 28K and i have him down to $26500 right now. It is also a local used car dealer not an audi dealer. I am working with them also to try and find something.

    Re: Is this to much?

Audi dealers will charge around $1800 for a CPO warranty if they certifiy it. Around $25k would be good for an 05.5+ w/no warranty. I'd suggest getting a warranty though with any Audi.
