WTF car dead after installing turbo timer. What to look for?

Install went smoothly, greddy 3 started right up, drove it around and everything seemed fine. It has now been 3 days since I started up the car and now its completely dead. I bought my redtop about 1 month ago as well :(

Bad battery (I know you just got it)

    or alternator.

Jump it to see if it starts. Maybe in your 3 days of not driving it, you left the lights on or something.

if your turbo timer is hooked to an active line it could be slowly draining the battery.
check make sure all the lines are correct.

hmmm. I just installed mine about 2 hours ago using directions from a write up someone made. Wonder what it could be. Theres only a few wires to connect.

Well my last battery was toast so I got a redtop. I had my car sitting for about 3 weeks without starting it and it started fine. Now after having it sit a few days with a TT installed it is dead. I am wondering if the TT itself might be bad. I really have no idea as it seems odd that it works perfect. How do you test for parasitic drain? I may give that a try. I googled it but am a little confused. I would disconnect the neg. terminal and put the multimeter inline by switching it to Amps and then by putting the probes where?

The red wire suppose to hook up to the 30, but the wire you spliced from the back of the fuse box (little black wire with blue stripe) goes to the 75x. Hold on Ill post the link that I used so you can refer to that, it has pics.

Re: WTF car dead after installing turbo timer. What to look for?

I cant find the stupid link now. . Sorry bout that. Well basically you cut the tiny BLACK w/BLUE wire coming out the back of position #6 of the fuse box. Then I connected the wire I just cut to a inline fuse then connected the other side of the inline fuse to the 75x block. I used the #6 fuse and put it in the inline fuse holder. I hope that helps you out. Oh and I never used the blue wire.

sounds more like you created a short, use a multimeter to find it.

Just stay off boost for the last 1-2 miles and use the built in turbo timer (a.k.a, leaving door open until chime goes off) then shut off car.

yeah driving out of boost for the last few minutes of your drive will do infinitely more than it just sitting and idling anyways

This is exactly what I did. I just disconnected my neg battery terminal and put a multimeter in line and found that I was using .4A which seems like a lot

Update: I think I have concluded that it is not the TT but instead is my JL amplifier. I had a reading of 400mA of parasitic battery loss and I just took a reading that was around 20-40mA. I will have a look at that and reply if my car dies again with the amp power wire disconnected.

True, the added wind of staying out of boost "on your way home" is much more effective, but there are times when I need to get out of my car asap, and with those times it's nice to have a TT because its better then nothing.

the cupholder is lame: it always sticks and it is the work of satan to put a cupholder above where my AVIC touchscreen is. Even if I have the TT off, I still like it better than the cupholder in both looks and so that drunk passengers arent always spilling shit everywhere.

Thats where my greddy is too, i absolutly hate it. Much rather have a cup holder.

FWIW my greddy turbo timer caused a constant draw on my battery. The the turbo timer itself started making a buzzing like a relay and wouldnt keep the car on. That was about 2 years ago, 3 or 4 months after install. All of the sudden this spring when i come home from college it works normally again....

I have an apexi TT also that i was thinking about mounting out of sight like in the glove box

Also if you switch it to the voltage screen its red to match the interior kinda...

Re: WTF car dead after installing turbo timer. What to look for?

Can some one help me out with this, Im getting confused about this extra grey wire thats coming from my hks TT i noticed the audiworld writeup doesnt have it.
I understand where the red(30post),green(black and blue wire by the vag connection) and black(ground) wires go. But, where does this grey one go to? And i guess the blue one is discarded? Isnt the blue one the ebrake wire? My guess is the grey one is the ebrake?. Then you have to cut the black and blue wire and connect it to the 75x right? TIA

Re: WTF car dead after installing turbo timer. What to look for?

update again: it wasnt the amp, my battery was just still low from when I first measured and was fully charged afterward. It seems that if I have the TT off and shut down my car my batt is fine but if it cuts the ignition and I leave the car off it slowly drains the battery. My only guess could be that its a bad TT
