My 4000 CS Q Senior Project!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Wellcome to my Build Up! I bought this car for $300. At my high school seniors are required to do a Senior project. Being a Senior this year it is my project to turn this 1986 Audi 4000 CS into a quality winter car, show value appreciation, and customize to attract specific market. For the project I need to document my progress so I thought Audizine would be a cool place where you could give some input. I am extremely open to any comments, suggestions, or criticism. My goals to complete this project include the following.
The "X" is a mark of completion.
X1. Create a budget that will be flexible but with the goal of staying under $2,000; keep track of all costs.
X2. Research costs and parts with various dealers learning to communicate my needs.
    3. Complete Interior work
    Xa. Clean
    b. Install Stereo
X1. JVC EXAD DVD head unit install
    X2. Amp/ Sub Woofer install
    3. Speaker purchase / Install / 2 6x9"s / 2 5 1/2"

X2. Remove headliner, visors, head handles, apply print to headliner, paint fixings black, reinstall
    3. Apply print to shift boot, visors, emergency brake boot, visors, and steering wheel.
    4. Purchase Winter Floor Mats and Seat Covers
    4. Complete Exterior work
    a. Paint Process
    X1. Sand car
    X2. Apply black primer coat
X3. Research Audi Rally Graphics that are time period correct
    X4. Paint Graphics
    5. Design and apply Audi Quattro stickers
X6. Remove rims, sand, paint and re-install
    X7. Paint Emblems Red
    Xb. Yakima Roof rack system
X1. Purchase Q towers, wind fairing, and rack basket
    X2. install
Xc. Install Hella 500 Driving Lights
    d. Acquire and install a grill and euro code headlights

Re: My 4000 CS Q Senior Project!

So today it was dumping snow out and i decided to go for a rally out a canyon. I drove a little carelessly and bottomed out the front end. I herd a pop and my OXS, Coolant, and Brake lights started flashing. I immediately turned off the engine and investigated the front of my car. I pulled the metal lower bumper away from the alternator. It was rubbing it hard core, but it didnt change the position of the alternator at all. Ok so I drove home and Checked out thigns some more. Everything looked fine so i decided to take it to my mechanic on monday about the lights.
Then i was on my way to town when the car died. It wouldnt restart so i phoned AAA, and got the car home. After going through my manual i realized that the V-belt wasnt attached to my engine anymore. So, im in search of a V-Belt. Does anybody know where to purchase one??

ya know, if you need a grill I can pick one up for you at the local pick n pull. theres a 4000 there with so many random parts in the trunk, its insane. turn signals, grills, A/C condensers, headlights. tons of stuff.

Re: My 4000 CS Q Senior Project!

    Quick Update.
I have been busy writing Anotated Bibliographys, Autobiographical letters, and journal entries.
Today I did my dress rehearsal presentation. Everything went great! The maximum time to speak is 15 minutes. When I hit the 15 min mark I wasn't asked to stop talking, so I blabbed for another 10 minutes. Yay! A+.
Since the MTN opens on thanksgiving day Ill need a rack to hold my skis. I have something nice planed, check back by the end of the month and youll see.
I made a Home Depo mesh grill to clean up the front lines. Im in the process of throwing the Hellas back on!
    So here is a quickie.

That looks Sick! you need some red mudflaps to compliment the lugs and Audi logos on the trunk. I too am fixing up a 1986 Audi 4000cs quattro for my senior project at my school. I am hoping to do some rallyx events next season.

No way! Thats awesome! Make a build thread, Please! I agree with the red flaps. I really want to throw some rallyarmor.com red mud-flaps on but I am paying for the $700 5 Cyl. 10 valve turbo engine. Right now this cars purpose is transportation to Baldy, a local ski resort. The CS needs to plow through at least a foot of snow for 15 miles every day so the focus of the project is cheap transportation. Next winter I will either build it up as a show car, or build it to rally specs and race it.
Today I started pulling the engine. I found a puddle of antifreeze in the driveway and decided its time for the 10 Valve turbo engine. I disconnected shit for about an hour and am about half way done with the pull. Hopefully Ill have the car running by next tuesday. I cant wait for the TRUBO!!! Ill post some pics with the new ski rack and engine. If the valley receives some welcomed snow Ill take it out for some drifitng and highway pulls. Ill post a video of the upgrade.
Check back late next week for an update!

Thanks for the advice about motorgeek.com. Through research I realized that I need to install a Coupe GT Air intake box/igloo due to space. So I searched the classifieds found a seller and placed my order. Now I don't feel so lonely on doing this swap!

Haha this is awesome. My uncle has a 4000cs 5sp sitting in the driveway. It needs some mechanical work, but since i dont have my baby to work on, guess its time to start wrenching. It looks great, and keep up the good work.
