Just got into an accident!

I just got into an accident about an hour ago. I was going straight and another car from the opposite direction decided to take a left turn and ended up turning into me. His front left bumper has little damage and my front left fender and driver's door has a pretty huge dent. But besides that, my front left wheel is pushed in a little! How much do you think it's going to end up costing for fixing the axle and the body work? The thing is we weren't even going that fast, 25 at most; he just decided to take that left turn right when I was at the intersection and since it was raining out, I tried moving out and braking but the car just skidded and could not stop in time.

Best thing about this whole thing is, I got to ride in the back of a police car back to my place. That thing has no legroom whatsoever, especially with 2 other guys in the back.

it shouldnt cost you a dime. thats what insurance is for. but honestly, new door, fender, blended into the hood, bumper, and back door? thats upwards of 3 grand. i dont know much about replacing control arms and axle and such, couldnt be more than 1 grand with labor and all. prolly more like 6-700 tops

glad everyone was unscathed. that is worth more than the cars.

Yeah at least no one was hurt. It's just a hassle getting into an accident specially during a busy week for me (exams).

yeah, i hear ya. i got into a minor fender bender a couple weeks back, much less serious than yours by the sounds of it. its just a pain to go through the paper work, drop the car off, get the rental, more paper work, etc.

hopefully it goes quick and is less serious than it sounds! maybe try and get some upgrades out of it. sounds like it might be tough though

sorry to hear man i had a similar accident.

I was in an escalade and a group of old people decided to make a left hand turn in front of me in an old lexus. My car had some minor damage on the bumper on the radiator broke. They're car on the other hand spun a 180 and had a bent frame. But luckily no one was hurt.

The estimate is came out to 3,800. The thing is, now I'm carless until October 17 and I can't get a loaner, being that I'm under 25. Have any of you had any sort of axle damage to your car? If so, when fixed, does the car still feel the same?

How old are you? That's not always the case. Even if you're under 25 you can usually get a rental. You just have a pay a higher rate. Usually, an extra 15$ a day.

My daughter was in an accident when she was under 25 and the rental agency did not want to rent her a car. We got around that by letting her drive my car and I drove her rental. The insurance company still paid for it.

When my car was stolen about a year ago I got a rental car no questions asked. The insurance company paid for it all. I was 20 at the time.

When my car was just in for service at the dealership they had enterprise give me a rental, no questions asked. I'm 21 now.

I was 22 at the time I got rear-ended in my A4. Just argue with the insurance agent a bit on the phone, and tell them your not the one who fucked up, it was his driver, therefore they will pay whatever to get you into a loaner. Insurance agents are paid to fork out the least amount of money possible. All you have to do is lean on them a bit and they will honor your requests.

Turns out I need replace the front bumper as well. But since there was prior damage done to my bumper my insurance is only going to pay 80% of it. While in this situation, I figured I might as well get an S-Line bumper if the price diff. of a non-sline to an s-line is not that much. My body shop quoted me $530 for a new non-sline bumper. How much is a complete S-Line bumper with new grill and foglight(if it's different)?

Bump. My body shop and so is they dealer they spoke is claiming that the S-Line bumper does NOT fit with the normal non-sline front fenders? Is this true? Cause I'm pretty sure it's not and would really like the S-Line bumper if they are replacing the bumper anyway. I mean most people on here get conversions and have no problems right?

the bumper will fit just fine. you will need to get the lower grills and a new front grill. but the bumper will fit just fine!

And all the mounting hardware can be reused from your old bumper!

make sure you find a good body shop... that's the most important thing.

my last experience with insurance... my civic si fender, hood, a little bit of door damage. Mechanical wise lower control arm bent, strut broken in half.. the wheel was sideways like the back to the future delorean :D

long story short, i got in to an accident 250 miles from home, they wouldn't tow the car to my friends shop, so i left it over there. They didn't know how to properly align my car, so AFTER they did all the work, I had to go over there for a few hours, take apart most of what they swapped, and adjust everything as all their mechanics gathered around pointed and whispered to each other..

and i didn't even get paid for that training session

but yea.. good shop is the most important thing.. if they're good, car will feel good as new.

Yeah that;s what I'm scared of. I've never been to this shop and kind of like you, the accident happened 50-60 miles (school) from home and they wouldn't tow it to the shop near my house.

Do you or a friend have AAA+ ? Just tow it yourself with that for free! Ask around.

RE the rental car... If you are paying for it on your insurance they should provide it for you. If they won't because of your age and they charge you for it - sounds like time for a retro active refund!
