    i tried searching and couldnt find anything. what will happen if i tried to use a ecu with a different part number? will it kill anything if i try it?

    to the best of my knowledge it won't wreck anything, but it's probably won't work.

    The 557P's in the Passat's and A4's don't recognize any immobilizer stuff and IIRC is ME5. The DBW stuff I think is ME7, and I don't think ME7 and ME5 like each other.

    for example would a 3B0907551BR ecu work on a car that originally came with a
    3B0907551BQ ecu?

    I'm not familiar with that code/pt# It could be a difference between flashes for a Auto trans or a manual, differences in engines - like the older cars that had the option of 8 or 16V. etc

    the main thing is that it's not going to damage any component, if something major dosen't work you'll know very,very soon ;)

    no onw knows huh. ill guess ill have to try it and find out. its a 30V btw

    I found that one out today b/c I scanned a 30V at work and recognized the part #.

    What are you trying to interchange? Obviously the ECU, but from year to year, trans, ...?

    01 to 01 tip to tip, i can recode the softcode for the car if i need to im just want to make sure that a ecu with a different part number will work, i guess it doesnt really matter, i already bought it :) i would check but im ~3000 miles from my car.
