A6 C5 boost gauge

Has anyone here mounted a boost gauge in their C5 A6? I have the side curtain airbags in my 02 so I don't think I can mount a single pod on my A pillar. If you've done this or know of someone who has, please let me know where you mounted it and what brand you used. I found one C5 on cardomain with a boost gauge but I don't want to lose my defroster vent:

I have an idea but it will require a little bit of fiberglass.

That's Kievskiy on AZ, aka Andrey. One of the nicer looking rides, too.

Re: A6 C5 boost gauge

Thanks. Right now I'm considering mounting one in the driver's side sail panel. It would require a little bit of fiberglass work but shouldn't be too difficult.

I took a mold of Andrey's and revised it to fit all the contours of the defroster vent:

That looks pretty damn good, you didn't mind loosing the use of that vent I guess?

I installed mine in the center vent. Lots of work, but well worth it, imho. Write-up here:

Well, the funny thing aobut that vent is that it almost has zero airflow coming from it at any time. I've tried to make it flow air by using the defroster setting and specifically targeting the defroster vents. The center one for the windshield blows air like crazy but, those little ones are like an ant blowing air through a drinking straw.

Plus, I usually leave the climate system on all the time and if the humidity levels increase, the A/C is on and the windows never have the chance to fog up.

I've had that gauge installed since April (still had snowy days around then too) and have yet to see my driver's side window fog up.

Re: A6 C5 boost gauge

Yeah, like Brett said there is almost no air coming from those defrosters, i am in San Francisco and where i live fog almost all the time, Ocean Ave, i just point the defroster below it and i never experienced any problem, its enough air circulation in the car to keep the windows 'clean'
Plus the boost pod i had before the 'vent' one might work better for you,
this is what i had before:

and this is the 'vent' pod, which i like 100x better, its smaller, fits perfect and imo flows with the gauges much better:

and night shot, its white, but in the picture turned out blue

Hey all, i know this is an old thread but I'm running a Block8Head Custom vent pod on my C5 A6 currently with Podi mechanical boost and electric oil pressure gauges! They look and perform as if they were always in the car. To run the oil sensor i used the 42DraftDesigns oil relocation kit as to maintain the original sensor as well. Hope this helps anyone in the future looking to revive these great cars!

I actually took my cluster out and removed the voltmeter in the lower right of my gauges and retrofitted a gauge there and it looks nice. No tacked on look, functional, and I don't have to look away from my normal sight to monitor it. Just wish i'd used a gauge with a red light instead of red numbers and a white light

You might want to take a look at what this guy did.
http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...-gauge-install
He did what Robsa6 said, and removed the voltmeter in order to install the boost gauge instead.. And it looks really great!
I am planning to do the same my self, however finding that VMR boost gauge turned out to be rather difficult. I believe I read somewhere that they don't make them anymore -.-''
Post some pictures when you are done installing it ;)
