Quattro G2G: Miller Park: Winter

Are you guys getting sick of 80s, 90s, and for me, 100 degree temperatures? You want to put Quattro back to the test in some snow? Shit yeah you are, and HELL YEAH you want to use Quattro... So how about we get together for a meet in the winter?
here's what I had in mind.
- Get permission to use Miller Park's parking lot for a little snow-drifting action/ winter quattro fun
- Go get some tasty food/ warm drinks
- Meet up with everybody again, shoot the shit

So... what month will work for everyone?
i know I have almost a month off for christmas break, and late december woul be my best time, how about other people?

I am down for Quattro fun too. Miller Park may be tough to get access to with only a small group, I'm sre we could arrange a bunch a subaru guys to come for numbers too. I've got Hankook Ice Bear W300s on the A4 and they rock in the snow so I'm ready.

We need to talk to someone that is a member of SCCA (autocrossing) in SE Wisconsin to see how much the insurance rider will cost. Otherwise, I'm sure they won't let us do any "official" GTG's there. Otherwise, anything that's on the down low, sign me up.

Me thinks Big Boost is right about the insurance thing.
This would take some homework and eventually some costs but if it is reasonable, I'm so in.

If nothing else, maybe we could make it like a "winter driving school", that just so happens to encourage fully sideways AWD drifts at speed.

We could maybe set up a few cone courses to achieve this in principal. One could be an all out course, the main event essentially. But we could have several other small cone courses to theach dynamics of evasive lane change and braking manuevers.

Let's figure this out.

Letter: Good enough to get a response. Hopefully that can at least get us going in the right direction.
I'm friends with several of the local STI guys and an EVO guy or two. I'm sure others would want to attend and we may need numbers to cover a large fee to rent. Let me just throw out a totally random guess $5,000 to rent out the parking lot, hopefully way less but who knows.
So $5,000/50 cars would equal $100 each. Lessons learned in a safe environment=priceless. Not to mention the fun factor. I’m down and know at least a few more who would be too.

I have a Building @ 45th and wisconsin.. Very Very close to Miller park. We can always meet there it has a large parking lot and a heated garage.

As far as snow driving @ MP the conditions would need to be perfect. Duing winter they only plow isles in some of the lots others go completly un-plowed. This creates Ice under recent snow fall. Nothing sucks more than a 20mph drift into a large ice piece. IMO for a "snow course" to happen the following critera needs to be met:

1. New snow fall of @ least 3"
2. Any previous snow/ice should have melted
3. If it is an "un-sanctioned" event only small groups of 4-5 cars @ a time..
4. NO Cops All MP's lots are visible from the freeway and local sheriffs like to "rest" ther.


If we want to do something all legal like, we should just hook up @ The Merrill Ice Drags.

well here is the response:

Alex – thank you for your interest in Miller Park. We do rent out our lots for many different types of events and would be happy to do so for yours as well. Generally, lots are rented out at $1500/day, plus expenses (on-site directors, cleaning, plowing etc.). We also require the following insurance coverage:



(i) A general comprehensive public liability policy from a carrier acceptable to the Club (which policy shall have a form and content acceptable to the Club) in an amount not less than Three Million Dollars ($3,000,000.00) to cover liability from personal loss, injury, death, property damage and other related harm suffered by participants, spectators, and any others who may be adversely affected by Licensee’s or Club’s activities on or related to Licensee’s use of the Parking Lots.



(ii) Workers compensation coverage and employer’s liability insurance as required by the laws and regulations of the State of Wisconsin, but not less than Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000.00).



(iii) A property damage insurance policy protecting the parties hereto from loss or damage because of liability that may be incurred by the parties hereto, their agents or assigns, in the performance of this Agreement, when such liability is imposed on account of loss or damage sustained by others to their property. Such policy shall provide for a liability limit on account of each occurrence of not less than One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00).



(iv) The Club and District shall be shown as additional insured’s on all such insurance policy(ies) which shall also provide that the insurance shall be noncancelable except upon at least thirty (30) days prior written notice to the Club. The Club shall be furnished with a certificate evidencing such coverage at least three (3) days prior to Licensee’s intended use of the Parking Lots.
