Flashing CEL then CEL

I did search on this, and most answers were for a Coil Pack or misfire issues.

I will hopefully get a VAGCOM from a friend and we will scan it for codes.

Was driving then suddenly got a flashing CEL, which stayed for about 6 seconds or so, then no CEL at all. After like 3 minutes, the flashing CEL came back followed by a solid CEL which stayed on. I turned the car ON/OFF for 4 times, same thing. No shaking, no noise, no difference in driving that I can tell. Maybe a slight hesitation, but not consistent.

Any first guesses before I check it for codes? Thanks.

same thing happened to me last week and got it scanned..one of my coil went bad.

even if the car is not shaking? it drives and sounds normal..is it possible that its on its "way out"? My understanding is that CPs are either bad or not, no "half way" states.

yes, because i have the same sign, but better yet just get it scan so you know what cylinder is misfiring.

Am gonna do what you suggested and if it stays ON, will VAG it tomorrow. Could also be O2 sensor or something new.

It was CP #3 that went bad, was not the best time since I was in the middle of a race with a truck, and I still smoked the guy but had to pull over after the CEL was going nuts..

Good thing I did not go too far from home either.

Funny how we tried 15 times to VAG it and it just wont work. We better try it on a third Audi to make sure that cable is not just having an affair with your car..

Found 2 VAGs on Classified for $150 and $220, hunting for cheaper deals...
