Brake upgrade question - give me your insight!

So I need new back brake pads. I originally wanted to get some b5 s4 front calipers, order adams infamous rotors, some new pads and then paint my calipers duing the process.

Now that Ive got to do something with my rears asap and im short on cash this is what Im thinking.

I want to buy the stoptech stage 1 upgrade (http://shop.achtuning.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=325) and add in some zimmerman drilled rotors from pure motersport (http://www.purems.com/products/product.php?II=609 and http://www.purems.com/products/product.php/II=2261)

I like the idea of steel brakelines and the price of the stage 1 upgrade along with zimmerman rotors. I read on the forum the true stage 2 upgrade (with stoptech rotors) was overkill for stock, unless youve got big brakes. I hear a lot about hawk pads, but what about the ones in this kit? Anybody have experience? Stoptech seems to think they are good, Axxis I think...

Anybody have any ideas on this set up? Id like to take my car to 1+ and maybe someday add a k04 if my k03 blows. No big turbo for me. Do you think I will be happy with the stage 1 and zimmerman rotors? I hate looking at my ugly shit behind my wheels. Needs painted and upgraded a bit.

Also colors for caliper painting, everybody says red or yellow is overkill on stock brakes but I think that grey or black would be boring. Id like to add a little color to my atlas grey to get it to stand out a bit. What do you think would be good on my car?

what front lip is that........i want one, ......where do i get it. I was having the same problem with brakes. So i just went and got R1 Concepts premium rotors and pads. I couldn't see spending the money on the larger rotors and calipers when i commute 150+ miles a day. Myfriend has the rotors on his W8 and they look awsome and stop great.

I got all four rotors and pads shipped for $400. I couldn't beat that anywhere.

Vinny mod lip it is. Its a little banged up now, one of these days Ill refresh it... saved my front bumper from taking the abuse.

Other brake insights? What about caliper colors. I think darker yellow might look cool? What do you think?

Here is my horrible photoshop attempt. I can see how it will make that back caliper look tiny. But hoping that if I have drilled rotors it wont look too bad....

I think yellow would actually be a nice little accent to the brakes.

But for sure do Stainless Steel Brakelines front and rear. It makes a huge difference. Other than that go with the Stoptech Stage 1. I went with a big brake kit but if you are short on money everyone will tell you performance pads, rotors and fresh fluid is the best 'bang for your buck' as fasr as brake upgrades go. I used ATE Blue fluid and won't ever buy anything else. Good luck

Yeah, the yellow would be pretty cool. There's a guy on here with a silver b6, oetty front, and dark yellow rotors behind factory 17's and it looks pretty nice. I think there might be a pic of his car in a "silver pics" thread. The pic I saw was in the snow, if you go looking for it.

That is Favian's car and those are Stoptech calipers that have been painted yellow. Original owner was A4rce1 (John) and I bought his front and rear setup when he parted out his car. I never installed them and sold them to get the Stasis BBK I have now.

To the OP... if you are using the stock calipers then skip the crossdrilled rotors as you need all the metal you can get to help dissapate the heat. Upgrade your brake fluid and pads and you will have a decent city setup.

Get the 3.0 carriers and larger rotor and you'll have a better setup.

Add the SS lines if you want to improve pedal feel but do that last as you might not need it.
