1.8t engine to 2.8 tranns?

A simple "search" would not only show that it is a direct bolt up but that people have been doing it for years.


1.8 tranny = 01a housing
2.8 tranny = 01a housing

Only difference is the gearing and that the driver side tranny mount which means you just have to swap the driver side mount/bracket from the 1.8t over to the 2.8

like mike said, people have done it for years. BT guys like it for the taller gearing.

It is a great mod for the fwy and it a better 1st gear for BT/BAT guys that have a 7k-7500 rpm rev limiter. Down side is that since the gears are talling it takes a bit longer to get thru the gears and it is not a good mod for drag racing if you need to use 4th gear, well unless your car is going to trap 140+ mph with a 8500 rpm rev limiter.

I could not imagine having this trans in my car if I was bone stock. I do like the 1st gear and 5th gear with my current engine set-up.
