    DV question

Ever since I upgraded the software on the car to the APR stage 1, I noticed the car was hitting fuel cut and I was more then sure that it was the fuel pump. I never really thought anything was wrong with my OEM DV(that's probably due to the fact, that I don't have a boost gauge, yet). When I was at the shop installing the vmr testpipe I mentioned to the mechanic/owner, that I have been hitting fuel cut a little more then usual. When he VAG'd the car he saw that the car was over boosting(I had a few CEL come on). So the DV has a torn seal apparently and the turbo is over boosting and it's cutting off. My question is, I have been driving the car for about 3 months with this issue, have I damaged the turbo in any way or caused excess wear?

    Re: DV question

According to the guys at my performance shop, you're not hurting your car by driving around w/ a torn DV. You are just bleeding off boost and not really building any power when cruising around. I just installed the AWE one and have had good luck with it so far. It definitely makes the turbo a little louder and dramatic sounding, especially with your intake.

    Re: DV question

How would you be overboosting from a torn dv? It sounds from your description that the wastegate is opening later than usual, possibly over-revving the turbo? I don't think the ecu would allow for that. If it did, most people would be burning up their turbos when their dv fails, instead of simply leaking down to a lower psi like they do.

Same. My old one was a B code, and to be completely honest I don't think it was torn at all. I know for damn sure that my PCV is venting a ton of boost though. I haul ass and I can hear it screech soooo bad. Even with the windows rolled up I can hear it now.

Yep. My campus is encircled by two 5 lane avenues, and when I pass between two cars it's loud enough to cut through my music, my engine, and the two engines beside me.

Try something; leave your engine running and take the oil filler cap off. If your engine bucks and kicks, and sucks on the cap in your hands for dear life begging you to put it back on, you've got a PCV leak. Or so other posts on here have said.
